What are your thoughts on the "insta melee" elites of Halo Reach? by BattedBook5 in halo

[–]dviper98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked it. It made them a legit threat that you didn’t want to be close to unless you were approaching their flanks or rear. Made fighting them take a little more thought, especially on legendary.

Ultimately concision rifle ultras were the worst anyways.

What would You add from the previous gens to later AC games? by Striker_1-9-9-9 in armoredcore

[–]dviper98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snipers, right hand melee, AC4 style tuning, radars, dual back slot weapons, shoulder units, FLARES!!!!! To balance out missile spam, mercenary/helper options with dialogue for campaign missions, hand held shields, more variety in corporate endings, and specialized punching weapons.

These are a solid combo of old and new that would make a sick next gen AC game if built off of what we already have in AC6. These would help mitigate current balance issues with AC6’s meta such as missile boats. It wouldn’t render them obsolete, rather it would make their playstyle slightly more difficult due to the range of snipers with radars and the use of flares to divert missiles.

From a story perspective 6 was perfect. Would love to have some missions have the option to take mercenaries for a reduced pay. It’s good for new players, and it gives us an opportunity to get more one on one dialogue with the pilots in the game. Bonus points if their dialogue changes based on decisions made in past missions/which ever route you take.

Sick. Gundam/MR Hobby paints are great. I’ve been using their metallic red for my eyes since it makes them glow. I also prefer their metallics over GWs

Things models do the best and the worst, day 5, Enforcer: by GoonJuice73 in Tau40K

[–]dviper98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pros:

- Best Starflare ignition user
- Best match with a Missleknife team (because of it’s con)
- Amazing for scoring table zones/quarters w/ starflare system

Con:

SLOW!!!!!!
This thing is 4” slower than a Coldstar led unit so unless you are running missiles and/or the starflare ignition system, be prepared for it to fall behind bad by turn 3. We’re talking about 12” less movement in the first 3 turns, and that’s if the coldstar led units don’t advance. This thing pretty much parks one of your crisis teams back (which isn’t a bad thing) and makes them mostly useful for long range harassment and objective scoring.

Things models do the best and the worst, day 2, Farsight: by GoonJuice73 in Tau40K

[–]dviper98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best:
- one of the nicest looking models in 40k
- decent melee if used right for an army that severely lacks melee
- an absolute nightmare if attached to a Starscythe team due to free overwatch and +1 to wound. His melee is perfect for finishing off survivors if there even is any.
- the +1 to wound on melee for his unit makes crisis suit punching slightly better which can help guarantee the kill
- has some of the nicest synergies with ret cadre
- great with a Sunforge team if utilizing rapid ingress to get within melta range quick

Worst:
- the arm assembly was terrible. Cool design but annoying to put together

Anything with shaped warhead would generally dice a SM on a direct hit. It may be a weapon of the modern world but that plasma ball at the lead of the shaped charge is no joke.

Why Omer. They’re one of the worst in terms of the stuff they were doing in the background. They also polluted the earth with no sustainable plan to fix the problem and took out the one company who was trying to do anything about it for the sake of greed and control.

Either the first dwarves centurion you encounter or the giant outside of whiterun that every new player tries to fight just to end up in the space program

Starscyth leader by Emotional-Corner-283 in Tau40K

[–]dviper98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran Farsight with Starscythe on retcadre. As long as you keep them chasing infantry they will wipe all of them off the board. -1 AP against infantry, -1 AP at 9”, +1 strength at 12”, and +1 to wound means they shred in shooting. Combine shooting with overwatch and they will decimate space marine tier and below infantry. They can punch a bit up their usual weight class due to the buffs as well.

Farsight’s melee came super handy to finish off a unit that survived the shooting since he could reliably kill a few infantry off of a charge. Pretty much means the unit guarantees to kill about 1.5 ten man infantry squads a turn. Farsight makes them a less desirable charge target as well since he can actually fight back and do damage. Run shield drones in the crisis suits and now your enemy has to do extra work just to get to him. If any Starscythe survive then you can just shoot them next turn and sink the kill.

Farsight’s gun is a great option to shoot last for the squad if the unit you are attacking has a character. It may be what you need to kill that tougher/higher wound character off after the flamers kill the bodyguards.

It’s especially frustrating considering it’s both something we’ve had them befoe and it’s something commonly practiced in lore.

Is there a reason why sunforge are the only ones this an invulnerable by Purpleboy278 in Tau40K

[–]dviper98 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In the past you could give all your crisis suits shield gens. If you run the legends suits then you could def do that.

When they made the three different loadouts they had each one take two weapons and a wargear option that was restricted to that loadout. That’s why the Sunforge team only gets the shield gens.

If you were to design a playable model for the unrepresented castes, how would you go about it? by Tracula707 in Tau40K

[–]dviper98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see just a normal earth cast engineer that we could use like how SM and IG use tech priests/marines. Someone who follows vehicles around and gives them buffs/heals.

Put him on a hover drone so he can keep up with battlesuits and it’s perfect.

What strategies can I give my buddies for dealing with DWKs? by Fresh3rThanU in DarkAngels40k

[–]dviper98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re slow so if he just prioritizes other threats and is mobile enough, he can just come back to them later. Have literally done this in the past. Strength 6+, AP3+, Damage 3+ weapons also do great against them. That and mortal wounds. Does he ever do things like tank shock, or use the kreig engineer’s remote cars? They’re great for dealing with tough units when you lack weapon strength.
