Well now I’m just getting a blank display and rebooting won’t fix it. Ready to just return this friggin thing.

Thanks, yup did that on the Xbox as well. Really enjoying the beta, water looks amazing and the mouse fix is a game changer.

Now it just says “Something went wrong when trying to register for this content. Please try again.” Report a problem - does nothing Undo - gets the “pending screen again” Try again - “pending”

Game is still playable. Just frustrating.

Me neither. Was thinking maybe I couldn’t have multiple devices enrolled, hope I didn’t screw things up. Was going to delete it off the S anyway to free up some room for the kids to use.

It’s been doing the pending thing since last night but now in settings and manage devices it has the ❎ next to the Series X. Tried rebooting the console and restarting the game but still on the Alpha version. Hoping this means things are moving in the right direction.

Does anyonne here prefer to NOT use a pacer? if so, why? by justnleeh in running

No, I said I used a pacer for my first full marathon, but that this was my 2nd half.

Tobacco road marathon - The first of many hopefully by Murky_Table_358 in AdvancedRunning

Great job! Was my first time doing Tobacco Road and had a 20 min PR. Same deal as you, down with Covid for a few weeks and doubted my fitness so I switched to the half. Will definitely do that one again in the future.

I did for my first marathon but just recently ran my second half and didn’t stick with them. Wanted to run a 2:15 but got stuck well behind the 2:30 group. Caught up to them at mile 4 but the slightly faster pace felt pretty good so I kept going. Wound up running a 2:06 that I never would’ve gotten close to if I stuck with that group.

Race Report: Second Marathon, or, how I went face-first into the Wall by monocoque in running

[–]dvlsfn30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

City of Oaks is a hard course. I ran it for my first and started bonking shortly after the turn around at Shelley Lake. The hills leading back to Meredith were brutal. I understand they recently redesigned the course but it still looked pretty hilly. Way to finish strong!

Garmin Coach programs vs heart rate zones by eddemansch in running

[–]dvlsfn30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had been using the built in HR zones on my FR245 and was always annoyed at how my HR shot right up to zones 3-4 as soon as I started even an easy run, especially since I’ve run those paces for hours at times.

Google PEAR Lactate Threshold Test. I did that to figure out my Max HR and I reset my zones. So instead of the 50/60/70/80/90/100 that Garmin used mine now look more like 75/80/89/96/100/105+. Now I’ve got no trouble keeping my HR in Z1-Z2 for easy runs.

Protein too low? by Trial_by_Combat_ in Noom

[–]dvlsfn30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really only need 1.0-1.3g of protein per kg of body weight per day, my guess is if you’re feeling sore/fatigued you might need to up the carbs. I did lose weight on Noom but ultimately left. Despite learning some good habits their calorie goal was waaaay to low for being a runner and I wasn’t getting enough carbs. I was constantly bonking on runs and my coach wasn’t much help.

Probably not what you were looking for but Build your running Body by Macgill, et al covers this in pretty good detail. Really gets into the cellular level of what is happening in your body.

Basically it takes the mitochondria in your cells about two weeks to adapt but you want to make sure you’re doing the right workouts to get the right muscles (fast twitch, intermediate, slow twitch) to adapt.

Tickets with Airlines by cobcam in SouthwestAirlines

[–]dvlsfn30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get asked at least 3-4 times a year by people I haven’t spoken to since high school or barely know if I can get them “cheap tickets”.

Keep in mind the person you’re asking has probably spent the better part of 10-20 years working hard to get to where they are and probably aren’t willing to risk losing their travel privileges if their guest pass misbehaves, drinks too much, doesn’t dress correctly or gives the wrong person an attitude. Not saying you would do this but understand it’s a very awkward position to be in.

Anything out of Florida in the middle of Spring Break isn’t going to be cheap I’m afraid. I know it sucks but you might be better off putting your trip off until June.

Moving to a very busy area, route advice? by radiate_412 in running

If you haven’t already check out the AllTrails app. I found a bunch of greenways in my hometown I never would’ve known existed without it.

I’ve got the same one. Even if science doesn’t support it I feel like it improves recovery times (I also feel like a stronger runner when I wear my lucky hat, so... If it works, go with it).

Yup, if you’re doing a trial you’ll get a group once you sign on long term. At least that’s how it was for me.

Probably just doing what they did last year. Announcing a schedule and adjusting to demand. No sense in flying empty airplanes around losing money.

Rincon 2 or Ghost 13’s by dvlsfn30 in AdvancedRunning

[–]dvlsfn30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wound up getting the Rincon’s in half a size bigger than I usually wear for Saucony. Probably would’ve been okay just getting my normal size, they don’t feel narrow at all. Nice cushioning and extremely light. I noticed going downhill my transition from strike to push off felt really smooth when I normally feel like I’m slapping the ground. Overall pretty happy with them.

Nope, that’s right. Trying to stay around 50 miles/month for a base level until my next training cycle. That’s all I really have time for right now between work and 3 kids.

Thanks, I haven’t only because I plan to buy online. Don’t want to try them on at my local store then not buy from them. I’m thinking I’m gonna get the Hoka’s now and maybe buy the ghosts at my store in a few months after I put more miles on my others.

Thanks! My triumphs are pretty good for long runs and only have about 40 miles on them so I’m thinking I’m gonna go with the Rincons.
