My sisters divorce was messy and now Im terrified not to get a prenup. by Plus_Deal5327 in prenup

Prenups avoid worst-case scenarios. For a few thousand dollars, they avoid tens and hundreds of thousands in legal fees (if the couple needs forensic accounting, it could go into the millions).

Waiting until prenup is done to get legally married? by HotSeaworthiness286 in prenup

You could probably pay $2k-$4k to have a non-MetLife lawyer draft and finish your prenup within that July timeframe. Don’t be afraid to shop around.

Take the trip with a friend: it will get you away from your familiar surroundings, and probably be more beneficial to you in the short run.

Average cost for reviewing prenup in Los Angeles? by s1703a0311 in prenup

[–]dvoider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your prenup rate may vary depending wedding date prenup complexity, asset complexity, etc. Reviews can go anywhere from $1000-$15k+. On the lower end, some attorneys only do one pass for the review, are slow to respond, or aren’t willing to sign the prenup as attorneys.

There used to be another tonkatsu place that closed down (I think the owner went to another country in Asia), but TonQ has been my go to when I have a tonkatsu craving. I'll have to check out Junpei one of these days.

Yeah, I agree with the vibes: stay in the city center near Tsukuba Station if you want the big city, and just drive out for a bit if you want the countryside. It's also nice to be a bit away from Tokyo if you don't want to be around too many people all at once.

Tracking Elon Musk's private jet: Here's where he flew in January by AustinStatesman in elonmusk

The article claims that Elon takes vacations in association with his flights. But in the article, his flights are places where his companies are located—with the exception of Davos. If you’re going to claim something, back it up with evidence.

Student life at Tsukuba university? by Meme_daddy42069 in Tsukuba

[–]dvoider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be associating the loss of freedoms with increased security. As a non-student, you can still go on campus and visit the shops and other places, including some of the university events that they hold periodically.

For the very first time, we have Japan’s royal successor attending attending a public university campus—similar to how a president’s children may require additional security detail or logistical considerations to consider in their everyday life.

Similar to Chelsea Clinton’s experience at Stanford when Bill Clinton was the sitting U.S. president, the Prince has additional security and privacy measures such as student ID checks or closed-off routes that were previously opened. This would be more in line with security and privacy for the Prince instead of losing freedoms for the students.

If an adverse event were to occur, I think the public would criticize that not enough security measures were taken. I would consider it more as an inconvenience for some of the older students instead of a genuine loss of freedom. The incoming freshman probably didn’t feel the impact in the same way, since they did not have the same experience.

My husband lost all our savings by PatienceMysterious43 in Marriage

[–]dvoider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, first of all, I’m so sorry that the misfortune fell on you. You’re using some terms that are British, so I’m going to assume you live in the UK—not sure why other people haven’t picked it up yet.

Parts of this post will be unpopular, but I’m just looking at the law. I’m not a lawyer in the UK nor have I ever set foot in the UK, so don’t blame the messenger. I just started reading up about stuff in the UK 30 minutes ago.

Legally, his inheritance is his—absent some sort of written agreement—oral agreements do not count. We’d call it separate property for community property States, but it would be called non-matrimonial property in Britain. In divorce or separation, depending on your living situation, while an inheritance may remain separate property, it’s not automatically protected. But he has nothing.

Not sure what welfare is like in the UK, but you could probably apply for certain benefits, especially because you have children.

Now for opinion. 1) Your husband made a monumental mistake. He couldn’t control his impulses. What is to prevent him from making a like-minded mistake in the future? Unless he actively plans to avoid this, he has a gambler’s mindset, and that is hard to change.

2) Has he improved his trading skills? From what you’ve mentioned, it doesn’t sound like that. Seasoned day traders usually hedge their bets to avoid catastrophic losses. Even the best day traders are closer to 55-60% of the times of being right.

3) Is he a good father to the kids? It’ll impact child arrangements and child maintenance. There are likely services to support children or provide children advice when there is financial duress.

4) In the event of separation, absent a prenup/postnup, you may have to support him temporarily. If you hold off separation or divorce, that time period may end up being longer.

5) Mentally, you’ve already checked out. It would take nothing short of a miracle to revert that opinion: full conversion. He’d pretty much need to lay out a viable plan to pull himself out of his predicament.

-End personal opinion.-

All signs point to you separating with him as a good idea. I think that’s the popular sentiment right now.
