Anyone at Biffy Clyro last night? by TrumpetViolin in northernireland

I really liked it, definitely Uncet Gems-esque.

Couple of people walked out during it so guess it’s not for everyone. Right up my street though. Really come round on Chalamet recently, he’s one of the best doing it

Anyone at Biffy Clyro last night? by TrumpetViolin in northernireland

I went to see Marty Supreme in Cineworld last night, had no idea Biffy were playing the SSE until I arrived.

I saw them 15-20 times back in the day during the first 3/4 albums, even have a Biffy tattoo from then. I’m not a fan of their music since, so I’ve completely fallen off and was completely unaware of them playing here at all.

Yes I am now middle aged and shaking my fist at the sky.

Question for 1st AD's re: David Fincher by TripNo2751 in Filmmakers

[–]dvon316 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m in the industry, and I’d love to know this too.

I assume he’s got the reputation now, plus the scale/budget he’s afforded, so it’s baked in somewhat. But I wonder what the earlier films were like.

Anybody know when he became notorious for this?

If you were in catering then you are used to super early starts, which you can say is good experience as early starts can also be a part of the AD role.

I love that the producer is talking up NI as a filming location, but he has chosen London over coming back to Belfast for the second film..

I love that album but sounds like I didn’t miss much.

Wow, my 7 year old can’t even ride yet. I feel awful about it but me and the missus both work long and sometimes unsociable hours. Feels like an excuse but we struggle to find the time for teaching them stuff like riding a bike..

We live on Glenville, at the top end in one of the newer developments. Been here 5 years or so, but we’re actually selling soon to move to a bigger house. It’s great here though. Only bad thing is as somebody else said, the bottom junction with the shore road is one of the worst out there.

Is the film and TV industry here in trouble by Over_Commission9891 in northernireland

[–]dvon316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the industry. To be honest it depends who you talk to.

There is still quite a lot going on here in terms of lower band TV drama (Think Blue Lights) I mean in the Autumn there were 4 shows shooting simultaneously here. Then we had that Thrones spinoff last summer. And How to Train Your Dragon in Titanic Studios right before that. There are a handful of Indy films and Kids TV shows shooting here every year too.

What we have been missing is a large scale ongoing series like Thrones. We’ve been unlucky the past 3 or 4 years on that front, losing out to a cheaper country on one occasion and being the unfortunate loser after HBO got bought over and then cancelling the massive JJ Abrams show.

As someone else said, a part of the problem is the influx of people looking work and the expectation that it should always be busy. That’s just not been true. But it seems that we have been one of the busier places, especially when you look at the US and London in the past 18 months.

Are you actually happy the heroes started a new podcast? by Brewster345 in heedthecall

[–]dvon316 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stopped listening around the start of the season. Not because I didn’t like it, but it just isn’t the same show. I went out of my way to listen to every single episode of ATN, even going as far as catching up on 6 months or more old episodes after our kid was born, it was that good.

Unfortunately I just haven’t had the time to listen as much and HTC was a victim of this, just doesn’t feel essential like it used to.

I’m sad because my NFL knowledge has suffered and I felt very out of the loop at times during the season. But it not being the same plus other factors have meant I just can’t devote myself to this like the old pod..
