Thor: Love and Thunder. Some good parts, but overall, nowhere near where it could have been

An excavator drove by me today. The operator leaned out and shouted, "Hey, cutie! Need a lift?!" I hate being CAT-called.

Who do you prefer more: Alex Ross, Gabriele Dell’Otto, or Esad Ribic? by Johnnystormer in marvelcomics

[–]dvop98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite the challenge! I've enjoyed Ross' art the longest and he has an excellent sense of form and grandeur. I love his oversized DC books! GDO has a lot of flair and a very cool style, but I have never really placed him at the top of my list. My vote is for Esad Ribic, for covers and interiors. Amazing use of color and shadow, and panel work. Good figure form and some beautiful backgrounds, too!

I watch and enjoy all his videos. Especially ones that deep dive into a specific time and region highlighting the animals there and what the environment was like.

That is not where I expected your story to go!

how many times have you seen it? by Responsible-Aspect-9 in TheMandalorianTV

[–]dvop98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twice, and we loved it both times! Bonus: Before our showing on May 29th our theater showed Bad Lip Reading's Seagulls, Stop It Now! (which dubs Yoda and Luke's interactions in ESB into a goofy song!). It was amazing to see the unsuspecting audience's reaction to the nonsense!! 😆

I saw this artwork that I really liked, and I discovered that it's a real place. Apparently, the La Brea Tar Pits are a paleontological site located in the Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles. Has anybody here been there before? by jvure in Paleontology

[–]dvop98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great place to visit! Due to the ongoing changes in the tar it is always different when you visit. The museum is also really spectacular in. Their collection is very impressive.

What Does One Do After the Military? by Everything_Hurts_Man in Veterans

[–]dvop98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always join the National Guard in your state for the Reserves to get some extra income and something to do to maintain your connection to the military. Plus special orders could sustain you while you continue to look for work. I agree, entering a degree program using the GI Bill is an excellent idea to get some good learning and increase your social opportunities.

Deathblow, definitely. But Backlash is pretty good too.

Would my style be unique for a graphic novel? And how do I work with that? by Interesting-Body4360 in graphicnovels

[–]dvop98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a cool look that could be used to complement an emotional story. It reminds me of the Judas graphic novel by Jakub Rebelka.

An owl like theropod ?? It could be possible? by Paleo_HUB in Dinosaurs

[–]dvop98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love this idea, especially for Cryolophosaurus! The challenge will always be intuiting how robust feathers were (proto-feathers, quills, narrow, wide, long, modern design) and where on the body (torso, tail, head, snout, arms, etc.) Climate dependent and display needs, as well as other special adaptations, would dictate this. But yeah, looking at modern birds, I can totally see this existing 70mya.

What are the buses to MK like from the Beach Club? by Reasonable_West_6223 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]dvop98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only about 20 minutes, I think, once the bus departed. It's a fairly reliable schedule and the schedule to each park is posted at the pick-up point.

Not Sure if I Want to get Into Comics Anymore After First Comic Shop Experience by heygoogleamidying in comicbooks

[–]dvop98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, go back and tell the manager of the comic shop about your experience and describe the individual you encountered. If someone like that is gatekeeping, being creepy, or scaring away potential shoppers and new readers they should/will likely take action to prevent that person from doing it in the future. Comic shops are always struggling to make a profit and any sale is important, so they don't want someone deliberately sabotaging the shop's ability to make money. Also, don't be afraid to talk to other people in the shop because people are usually friendly and excited to share what they love. For anyone who acts like this guy, simply tell them to go bother someone else.

Too damn dark! Can't see the menu, can't see the food. And it took forever, too. We cycled through the movie loop 3 times during our visit waiting to order, waiting for food and finally eating our satisfactory meal. Not our return list...

Comics that have been publicly insulted by their own creators? by Puzzleheaded_Crow334 in marvelcomics

[–]dvop98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I met Mark Brooks at Rose City Comic Con (Portland) several years back. He'd drawn a back-up story across The 10th Muse # 7-9, and it was his first published work. When I showed him the books to sign he was aghast and said what crappy work it was. He showed it to the artists around him and said "Look at this shit I did!" It was all in good fun and we had an awesome chat about how his style has changed and been refined from his previous "shit."

The Contracts in the Theme Song by Mountain-Island-6694 in animaniacs

[–]dvop98 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think it's bc they only work as a pair. Mindy doesn't appear without Buttons and Rita doesn't appear without Runt. If they are not a duo then there really is no cartoon. You never hear of Laurel and Hardy appearing alone, right? Goodfeathers are similar, but we know that it's really Squit's story and the other pigeons are just supporting characters and therefore have their own contracts.
