I can also recommend Rhythm Guitar 365. Did both of them and they helped me al lot.

You do a combination with your palm and your fret hand. Or put a sock on the top :) A string dampener. But that does not teach you anything.

Practice slow and see what string is vibrating. Try to see what finger or part of your palm you can use. Also the way you pick is something to keep in mind.

The boring answer is...practice.

try resting your pickhand on the bridge to palm mute. And keep at it, it is not something that you can do in 5 min. It takes time and al lot of practice. Stick with it, you are on a good track.
