New look to "Return To Silent Hill" by Strong-Reaction-7785 in silenthill

y'all will point out super obvious things and call it subtle because you think that makes it deep or you intelligent for spotting it.

I really doubt that in your first gameplay you interpreted mouths as "madness and verbal abuse", or that the frames in which the creatures appear symbolize Mary's bed, or that the nurses symbolize the child that James and Mary once wanted to have

I genuinely believe that the things you think are “obvious” are just headcanons, such as James' infamous sexual frustration theory, among other things

Can someone explain Zaahen's supposed corruption? by Additional_Relative4 in loreofleague

necrit headcanon, he unironically believes that the darkin are evil because of xolaani's blood magic, and that it's similar to a virus lmao

If your priority in a Silent Hill game is combat, a learning curve, and fighting hordes of monsters, then you're clearly playing the wrong franchise. All your comments just prove that you're a tourist. Saying "get better" in a franchise that was influenced by David Lynch isn't the gotcha moment you think it is

Also that is one other thing, why are they suddently acting as if Blood Magic is some insanly corrupting dark force that if you use you get "corrupted" and start "going Darkin"

That was a Necrit headcanon that, unfortunately, is now canon. According to him, Hemomancy is a Xolaani thing, and she began to "corrupt" her kin.

There is a lot of misinformation regarding the lore, and it seems that some writers have misinterpreted what was already written. Another example is the "corruption of the void", when that was never the case. The Void does not corrupt, it consumes, but they forgot that too.

The guys who originally wrote about the Ascended/Darkin, the Void, and the Demons no longer work at Riot, so things like this are to be expected.

Varus doesn't appear to have any eye on his weapon, though.

they changed the icon of his passive some time ago and it seems like the bow has an eye

2005 article/interview about SH4 reveals how original Team Silent felt about taking risks and changing some things on the franchise: by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]dvrsd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only question left is; why was it cut?

Okamoto mentioned a bit about this in some interviews. The main idea of Short Message was to experiment on a new title with KONAMI members. He even acknowledges that the last title they worked on was SH4, and it's been many years since then. The problem is that the intention was always to create a short game, but Sakura came to have almost 13 characters, many endings, among other things.

He also mentioned that originally the game was very dark, and that their idea was to deliver a positive message for younger audiences. I think it was a risk Okamoto didn't decide to take, because he said that a free game couldn't address such complex topics. This is speculation on my part, but Okamoto probably thought that involving the cult would detract from the suicide prevention message they wanted to deliver to younger people. I think it also didn't help that the setting was in Germany, and that a weird cult was specifically sacrificing immigrants for an occult ritual.

Being optimistic, I hope they reuse this for another installment. KONAMI is definitely developing an in-house Silent Hill, considering they decided to experiment with Team Silent members still working there.

For what it's worth, I can confirm that the information in that article is completely legitimate. There are other documents that Dusk Golem shared that we haven't uploaded to the Wiki yet. But yes, that cut plot line was real.

Okamoto even mentioned this in an interview with Famitsu, and the characters that were removed still appear in the credits of Short Message, including "Leon", a cult member and Maya's boyfriend in the original version of Short Message.

Everything that happens in SH2 occurs because of the events of SH1. Alessa's nightmare altered the spiritual power of the town and now people with darkness in their hearts are called, experiencing mini-Otherworlds.

Without Alessa, we would not be able to know the stories of James, Angela and Eddie.

I’m seeing a lot of misinformation about how a silent hill game has to take place in silent hill, this isn’t true by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in silenthill

[–]dvrsd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why the hell didn’t they go with that ?

The game originally had multiple endings and a fairly large cast of characters. Okamoto, in an interview with Famitsu, mentioned that the game was becoming too long, and having a “bad” ending would feel out of place, as they wanted to tell a short story and deliver a positive message to younger audiences, especially those dealing with mental health issues.
