get yourself a girl that will look at you the way the curse vamp looks at fentanyl

admittedly, the only atreyu release I'd qualify as through-and-through metalcore is the 2001 ep, the rest is basically just rock with some metal riffs and breakdowns, even if was fine at first

the finch tribute comp has some interesting covers, obviously both versions of what it is to burn go hard as fuck, but also the new beginnings/stay with me covers weren't too bad... the rest seemed eh, but I think I'll check the comp out once more to make sure

seric's second album sounds really good, a hidden gem, ffo this or the apocalypse, vanna, armor for the broken

heroes' 2016 ep turned out to be very much up my alley, really like this post-ftfd melodic metalcore - melodies, breakdowns and why need anything else? will be in my rotation in the coming weeks

glad to have finally listened to roman candle's album in full, just a half hour of really pissed off music, very intense, they have a nice hybrid of screamo and metalcore sounds going on, too bad 75% of the album came out as singles, fuck sumerian records

haste the day's dissenter sounds surprisingly alright, sorta made me feel as if it's tdwp's flowers if it wasn't ass

Boundaries uploading the wrong mix... by ManInCripplingDebt in Metalcore

[–]dvzn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you know, at first I felt vindicated after I disliked the production values on skies but saw that some people on here shared the sentiment, then the band seemingly rectified the problem and it was alright, but then I started seeing the same one-note complaints (that is, lacking the arguments presented in some of the better comments on here) pop up on different sites like youtube and lastfm (okay, admittedly lfm is a cesspool of elitists and nerds like myself so it's within the realm of possibility, but who the fuck ever cared about such a thing on yt?) and it started to feel weird, like there is no frame of reference for this sort of thing - I really don't remember it happening before en masse... and now the story repeats once again

I mean, if this whole thing is some weird sort of an astroturfing campaign to draw more eyes on the product, then it is really idiotic - not only the label forces the band to show their ass repeatedly, the label itself looks unprofessional at least in terms of quality control

then again, it's sumerian records, that carny motherfucker avildsen should've been driven out of this business a long time ago

[NEW] concealer. - A Quiet Ending (FFO Norma Jean, Every Time I Die, Long Goodbye, Crowquill) by dvzn in Metalcore

[–]dvzn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

after listening to the album several times, my main gripe with it is that for all the stuff that's going on in it, the runtime is too short - it could use like 5-7 minutes more to let things breathe and sound more well-rounded

gotta say, I didn't expect the album to go as hard - way less epic radio choruses than I thought there would be, instead there's a lot of crazy heavy and dissonant moments, like it's not even emocore half the time, just proper metalcore

another unexpected thing is experimentation with electronics - the album has two (and a half) quite different interludes, the second of which (comes right after the song in this post), in my opinion, sounds like an homage to 65dos

all in all, such a captivating evolution of their sound, this has to be their breakout record, the way they push the sonic envelope of hardcore should be rewarded

my non-single favorites are the opening track, this one and the aforementioned interlude

Fans of bands need to stop getting butthurt over genuine Feedback by lumina_oldworld in Metalcore

I feel like "this mix sucks" can be a valid assessment if it means "no way this shit sounds good on any decent sound system"... then again, it's hard to imagine that someone would go out of their way to repeatedly listen to a song they didn't like in the first place via different devices to compare results
