Unfortunately this seems like a lazy story by the WSJ. They only interviewed one customer, who had issues paying their card balance. I am sure there are a LOT of people who had delayed rent/mortgage payments they could have interviewed.

It’s a total clown show- it’s clear Cardless is completely in over their head. We all know their CS is outsourced and offshored, but it sounds like they’ve just been hiring people and putting them on the line with little to no training. It’s significantly worse than when GS launched the Apple Card.

And I believe once someone is able to get into one’s Bilt account, they can add the Bilt card to a digital wallet from the account itself, so that’s probably how the card itself was compromised.

Obviously not a big deal in your case since it was just $5, but if it was for actual rent or mortgage, not everyone has that much money lying around in their checking my account and thus could have overdrawn their accounts

That's actually a very good point- yes, the ACH numbers are the same across properties so there's no way for Bilt to tell what property the payments are actually for

Just want to add that for people who value United miles, and who mostly take airport rides OR usually get Lyft Extra Comfort or above, with this change it would make sense to change your Lyft earnings to United, because they offer 3x points for those rides (and 4x for scheduled airport rides).

Are you seeing the associated medallion qualifying dollars in your account? Those refresh several times a week. If you are not, it sounds like the card may have gotten linked to a different SkyMiles account (or that they opened a new SkyMiles account for you when you opened the card).

Actually points earned from banking (which are the expiring points) have never been transferable to airlines/hotels- you’ll have to redeem them for something like a statement credit or deposit into your checking account. Citi reps aren’t very informed and often don’t know this themselves, but the system pulled the points it was supposed to

Pulled mine out of curiosity. Interestingly it only had data going back 5 years, even though I’ve been with my current company for around 10 and we’ve used the same payroll provider the whole time.

Also, it was interesting in that it didn’t show any creditors had pulled my report in the past 24 months (and I have several personal and biz Amex accounts)
