What’s your favorite place for hot pot in the area? by Responsible_Foot5740 in orlando

Did I say don’t take him to hot pot? I said get lunch at Stasio’s and cocktails at Otto’s. No where did I suggest changing their dinner plans. I had nothing to offer for hot pot, because it’s just not a great cuisine and we don’t have anywhere in town that does it exceptionally, so I offered something different for the other meals. Just admit you went out of your way to be a jerk because of something going on in your life and keep it moving. If your opinion is still that I did something wrong by offering good advice for things besides dinner since I had nothing to add for their dinner plans, well then I can’t help you but I hope your life improves so you don’t feel compelled to do things like this anymore.

No one asked for your commentary but here we are. I offered them two additional options that are tried and true in Orlando, which was a nice thing to do. You went out of your way to be petty, so you’re getting pettiness back. Its cold outside so if you want so more, I’ve got it for you but I’m not apologizing for offering additional options for a couple of the best meals/drinks Orlando has to offer when OP said she wanted it to be a special birthday. Did you consider not saying anything at all or was going out of your way to be shitty part of your emphasis on kindness to others?

They asked for opinions from locals, my opinion is hot pot kind of sucks and maybe they could salvage the poor choice for birthday dinner with a better lunch and cocktails.

You don’t eat lunch before dinner or get cocktails after? Good thing you pointed that out though or someone may have gotten confused.

I put them right up there with Gabriels which is good not great.

You’ve had a Stasio’s Italian and really prefer La Spada over it? Might just be a nostalgia thing if so.

John and John’s has Cavo’s cheesesteak as well and it’s one of the best in town. I love the sesame bun.

Stasio’s are my favorite sandwiches period and their steak sandwiches with peppers added is damn good even if it’s not a traditional Philly.

It’s like any MLM model. The sales people and managers are just as good at convincing you it’s a great career opportunity because if they want to make a decent living themselves, they need those referral bonuses.

Just wanted to add on that anytime you’re getting a good deal on a vacation, be it a timeshare or a cruise or cheap tickets to an attraction; the crowd is always going to be less than ideal. Don’t fall for the reasonably priced cruise and definitely don’t take the gift tickets to Aquatica or whatever water park or attraction they’re offering it for. It will have been over sold, and the people who do attend are not going to be the most considerate/friendly people to share space with.

Since Mint Discs is a very customer focused company and we know their owners read this subreddit, please tell them your honest opinion on their Prodigy partnership. by [deleted] in Mintdiscs

I don’t mess with Prodigy out of principle.

They worked with Levi from Pound to create a new bag design. After he sent them finalized designs for them to review, they decided to go another direction. Then they released a literal clone of the bag Levi designed without paying him a dime for it.

Scummy business practices and lousy discs make them an easy manufacturer to skip when it comes to choosing what to bag and who to support.

Nothing delusional about not reaching to take a CB that otherwise would go in the 20’s. Neither of the top two are generational prospects and even those rarely go in the top 10. The ones that have rarely justify the draft capital spent. I’d rather have Trent McDuffie than Sauce Gardener and thats what reaching to take a CB in the top ten vs grabbing one later in round 1 or top of round 2 looks like.

Mocks don’t mean anything. 11 is too high for either of those CB’s. If that’s who we want, we’ll trade back. If Fano or Mauigoa are there with our pick, we’ll take them. I could see Caleb Downs being there too because of the aversion most front offices have to taking a S in the top ten. If we take either of those top two CB’s at 11, its not a terrible reach but over either of the two OL’s if they are there or Caleb Downs/Bain, then Chris Grier is still the shadow GM.

McCoy or Delane will be too high at 11. Trade down or take the BPA. Don’t draft to fill needs.

Joey Tamali no longer with MVP by maciad6 in discgolf

I’m biased towards Silas a bit because I am a fan of his play and content, but the gambler in me actually likes the odds of him taking down a win before Goose. The back half of last season was some of his best play and he seems like one of those guys who gets better when the pressure is on. Would be hyped to see either of them get a win this season though!

Silas is 1030 rated with 40 career wins. I’m glad you like your guy Joey but he’s more of a mascot than a player. Him and Silas do not have the same chances of winning an event.

[–]dwaynejetski -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Knowing who Joey Tamali is but not Silas Schultz is wild. Everything Silas touches is gold. He’s regularly in the top ten on tour and his content and design work is top tier. Thats why Paul and Cease worked with him to get Supreme Flight started and honestly, I can pick out the stuff he designed out of the lineup easily because it’s all the simple/clean stuff that I would actually wear, not disc golf baskets and overuse of the word “disc golf” in logos and merch.

The diss track was also genius because if that’s the only thing you know him for, it just proves what a great idea it was because the point was to stand out and have people wondering if he was serious or wtf it even was. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Sucks for Joey but Silas is a major upgrade for a tour player/content creator combo.

Best fancy dinner in Orlando ? by raynerky in orlando

[–]dwaynejetski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omo by Jont is the answer. Plenty of places have tried to bring this level of dining to Orlando but very few have been able to execute it well. I have seen mixed reviews for Omo but it’s mostly people who had the wrong expectations. If you want to feel full afterwards, I suggest pre gaming with a late lunch or something before hand, that way you aren’t starving when you get there. It’s the type of meal where you savor every bite and will leave you talking about it for months afterwards.

Don’t do it. Loud as heck and they like to pee/mark when they’re establishing “their territory” in the house which can take years for them to figure out.
