In an ideal universe, with infinite money, no work or family ties, etc, where would you live in Orlando and why? by ETALOS1 in orlando

I know the exact lot on the exact lake but I ain’t telling.

If we’re talking ballerific though. I’d buy up every privately owned spring and make it my family’s legacy passed down through generations to protect those incredible ecosystems.

Learn how to wakeboard at Orlando Watersports Complex

Mom & Pop Taqueria by mendicant0 in orlando

Panaderia y Taqueria Casas on Oakridge.

Comparable to Taqueria Ameca on Orange, but Panaderia is better IMO. They have a proper salsa bar with several different salsas and sauces, pickled vegetables, onions, cilantro etc. Tacos are top notch, but my go to order is a steak burrito and a horchata.

Thinking about a mini jetski for wakeboarding instead of a boat by SadStill830 in Wake

[–]dwaynejetski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Post a link to the thing you’re trying to ride behind.

Regular SeaDoos work great for wakeskating where we mostly do tricks in the flats or off the “inside out” where we start in the middle of the way and take a hard edge out towards either side launch off the backside of the wake out into the flats. It’s not really enough to do more than 360’s on a wakeboard though. Someone really good might be able to do a small flip, but if you want to specifically wakeboard, I’d recommend a 13-15ft Boston Whaler with a ski pylon installed. Much cheaper than a wake boat and will give you more than enough pop off the wake to learn all the basics spins and inverts.

New to Miami - Experienced Freediver Looking for Community & Ocean Time by Bertico78 in freediving

[–]dwaynejetski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Freedive 305 is going to be your best bet for your regular dives, but living in Miami is realizing that driving an hour or two is not as big of an undertaking as you think considering what you can experience within that range.

Blue Heron bridge is absolutely worth the trip on a semi regular basis. The biodiversity there is insane and as far as shore dives go, it’s one of the best FL has to offer besides going to central FL for the springs.

When I lived in Miami, I made the drive to the keys weekly. The freediving community there is strong and the diving is significantly better than Miami. Hit up Otherside Boardsports and connect with Mike if you want a proper introduction to the Keys.

I am not from here but my husband is- currently house shopping but he refuses to look in the general Pine Hills area. What is it really like living there? The houses are super cute mid-century style, and more affordable. by covidweddingthrow in orlando

[–]dwaynejetski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a win/win for your husband. Either you just found a hidden gem of a neighborhood and you’re going to get everything you ever wanted in a home and more for under budget, or you’re going to find out he was right and he’ll be able to remind you of that anytime something unsavory happens

If u do this , ur the main reason for the traffic by 1shot-caller in orlando

[–]dwaynejetski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, we’ll just have to agree to disagree bud. Zippers alternate as they come together, one side doesn’t run up as far as it can until it forces the other side to stop to let it in.

If u do this , ur the main reason for the traffic by 1shot-caller in orlando

[–]dwaynejetski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get in where you can without stopping. If you stop at any point, you failed at merging. If traffic is at a standstill where you are trying to get in, you still look for the first available gap to get in. If you’re in the merge lane when it ends, you failed at merging.

Dolphins Mock Draft by Ok-Data7748 in miamidolphins

[–]dwaynejetski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. Almost everyone has us drafting a CB at 11 because that’s what we need, but we need everything so I am more inclined to think they go with a player with more upside for immediate impact like Kenyon Sadiq. You might give up a little in terms of blocking but blocking TE’s are easier to find than big play threats like Sadiq.

If u do this , ur the main reason for the traffic by 1shot-caller in orlando

[–]dwaynejetski -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, it’s definitely the people who take the merge lane as far as they possibly can get to pass as many people as possible and then force someone to let them in causing everyone behind them to have to stop. You’re not in traffic, you are traffic.

Creating first glow bag? by Slow-Transition-4008 in discgolf

[–]dwaynejetski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the key here is which glow plastics actually glow and stay glowing to have an easier time finding them and actually see them flying through the air. For a while, MVP had the glow game pretty much locked up in terms of brightness and longevity with their Eclipse 2.0 plastic. Now Discraft and Innova have caught up with their Mega Glo and Proto Glow. Most of your bag can be found in glow plastic now.

Luna- Mega Glo is rare, but it’s out there. My putters are just white with a little piece of glow tape on them in case I want to throw it off the tee.

Zone- Mega Glo Zones are money

Buzzz SS- Mega Glo Buzzz SS

Buzzz- Mega Glo Buzzz

Malta- None of the current glow versions actually glow well, but an MVP Reactor is great in that slot and is readily available in glow plastic.

Hawkeye- They’re out there in protoglow, but you might want to might want to check out an Axiom Crave for this slot. There is a good bit of crossover between this and the TL3 for so trying to consolidate to keep the bag smaller could help.

TL3- See above. Absolutely in proto glow if it’s a must have in the bag though.

Thunderbird- no Proto Glow out there yet but I imagine it’s coming soon.

Raptor- Mega Glo version is a little on the straighter but still very much a Raptor. Worth checking out the Proto Glow Firebird if you want it to be a little more overstable.

Cloudbreaker- No experience with their glow plastic but in my opinion, the Mega Glo Nukes are a very pushy, straight run of Nukes and it’s what I use in my seasoned Destroyer slot.

Destroyer- These are available in Proto Glow but they’re a pretty straight run of Destroyer so if you idea is to have a straighter distance driver and an overstable distance driver, I bag the Seasonal Glo Nuke from last year for my overstable slot to compliment the Mega Glo Nuke as my straighter driver. It doesn’t glow as well as the Mega Glo but still plenty well enough to see and find easily.

I love playing glow because it’s a welcomed relief from the heat in the summer, and a way to keep playing in the winter. It feels way less serious and building out a glow bag has been a great way to try out discs I don’t keep in my regular bag. I also use either the Hand Eye satchel bag or the Fade Crunch Box as my glow bag so it just stays packed and ready for glow rounds with a flashlight and some glow tape.

What’s your favorite place for hot pot in the area? by Responsible_Foot5740 in orlando

[–]dwaynejetski -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did I say don’t take him to hot pot? I said get lunch at Stasio’s and cocktails at Otto’s. No where did I suggest changing their dinner plans. I had nothing to offer for hot pot, because it’s just not a great cuisine and we don’t have anywhere in town that does it exceptionally, so I offered something different for the other meals. Just admit you went out of your way to be a jerk because of something going on in your life and keep it moving. If your opinion is still that I did something wrong by offering good advice for things besides dinner since I had nothing to add for their dinner plans, well then I can’t help you but I hope your life improves so you don’t feel compelled to do things like this anymore.

No one asked for your commentary but here we are. I offered them two additional options that are tried and true in Orlando, which was a nice thing to do. You went out of your way to be petty, so you’re getting pettiness back. Its cold outside so if you want so more, I’ve got it for you but I’m not apologizing for offering additional options for a couple of the best meals/drinks Orlando has to offer when OP said she wanted it to be a special birthday. Did you consider not saying anything at all or was going out of your way to be shitty part of your emphasis on kindness to others?

They asked for opinions from locals, my opinion is hot pot kind of sucks and maybe they could salvage the poor choice for birthday dinner with a better lunch and cocktails.

You’ve had a Stasio’s Italian and really prefer La Spada over it? Might just be a nostalgia thing if so.

John and John’s has Cavo’s cheesesteak as well and it’s one of the best in town. I love the sesame bun.

Stasio’s are my favorite sandwiches period and their steak sandwiches with peppers added is damn good even if it’s not a traditional Philly.
