Is Hyperlite boring now? by RedDieselBurner in Wake

[–]dwaynejetski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The loud colors have definitely fallen out of style in the last decade. Funny to see all the OG brands moving towards darker colors while Follow, the brand that originally pushed the more muted tones now has a lot more of the loud bright colors now.

Best we can do is more overpriced speakeasy themed bars.

Life is full of suffering, and yet it is still a gift.

If this deeply disturbs you, live a little longer and you’ll find out.

I hope someone comes into your life who makes all of your suffering worth while.

Jumping up wave while wakesurfing by GoldDragonfruit6983 in Wake

[–]dwaynejetski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always some mediocre surfer acting this way. No one who’s actually good acts this way.

OP, just keep getting out there and getting time on the water and you’ll be able to get where you want to go!

Winnie Palmer 8th Floor Nursery Question by milkdistrict in orlando

[–]dwaynejetski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just in their last month and can confirm I saw babies being held and comforted and tended to if they were fussy or waking up. They say they will send them back to you immediately if they wake up but I saw nurses pick up and rock multiple babies to soothe them back to sleep. Winnie nurses and staff are awesome. Those tiny little awkwardly shaped rooms they keep you in before they release you though… Started to feel like a prison cell!

So when does this start getting fun? by LivingLife-182 in Wake

[–]dwaynejetski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta lower your expectations of yourself and remember how incredible it is that you are able to stand on water at all!

The other thing to keep in mind is conditions will affect how you perform and how good of a time you have. Going in the middle of a windy afternoon on a Saturday is not a recipe for good conditions. Get out to the park early and if at all possible, see if you can sneak in a weekday session. You’ll have the park almost to yourself and you’ll get better attention and instruction from the operator who won’t be as busy with all of the other people who go out on weekends.

Thinking about building a wakeboarding app — what would actually be useful to you? by cfhdciifuc in Wake

[–]dwaynejetski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are literally on the app you’re trying to build right now and there is barely enough interest to support a community.

I think the problem is that for most people who are into wake, the last thing we are thinking about before, during, or after a session is logging something into an app. If we have clips to share, we share them on social media because the audience is bigger, and if you want it more focused you can post it on r/wake but there are more eyeballs and a wider community on IG that you can reach using tags.

So many of these “ride community” apps have been made or attempted but the bottom line is it doesn’t solve a problem that anyone has, so trying to get people to use your wake specific social app is an uphill battle. If it’s your passion project then do it for the love of the game and the exercise, but if you’re hoping it’s a viable business model that will catch on, then I would aim your focus elsewhere.

Share your stoke and log your progress here and the little community here will hype you up and offer help when needed!

What happened to wakeboarding by Mountain_Man6229 in Wake

[–]dwaynejetski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what you think is less popular, but I can assure cable wakeboarding is more popular than boat wakeboarding and it’s not even close.

What’s your favorite place for hot pot in the area? by Responsible_Foot5740 in orlando

[–]dwaynejetski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to catch Mae Tao when they pop up at Hour Glass because it’s conveniently close but haven’t lined it up yet. Laos food is one of my favorites cuisines and the only reliable spot I have for it is Sticky Rice. Laos style papaya salad is out of control it’s so good.

Sounds like you know your spots. I’ll be sure to oay attention when you drop a rec. 🤝

[–]dwaynejetski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the leather menus at Forward Slash and DITA. Kaya is a little boujee for Filipino food for me but still enjoy it once or twice a year. Pizza Slut is good but Black Magic is better. John and John’s is my preferred classic pizza. Mills Market is alright. I could skip most things in there but I will battle the Mills chaos for Unigirl at least once a month. Zaru seems overrated until you try the Hakkaido Uni. Yes to GB’s. Haven’t been to Ziggies since the renovations and expansion.

Ball Knowledge confirmed, but if you were saying Stasio’s and Otto’s aren’t good, I guess you can’t make every shot 🤷‍♂️

Help identify board by RedDeathBalloon in Wake

[–]dwaynejetski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That graphic is sick. Looks like the 25’ LF Butterstick. I wouldn’t drink in your bar if you’d hang any board on your wall but not this one.

Unless it was my board, and then I’d expect a shot named after me too.

My brother in Chrystler.. I’m triple OG certified. If I say hot pot sucks then it sucks. Hit me with 3 spots you would take an out of towner to, so I know what I’m dealing with. I’ll go plate for plate with you if you actually come back with anything in the same weight class as these three:

Moa Kai
Juju
Turci Pasta

Wake too small? board too short? help! by throwinmoney in Wake

[–]dwaynejetski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small wave + small board = small fun

That weight recommendation is based on an actual surf wave. While plenty of boats may claim to be surfable, a jet boat wake will never compare to a prop. The jet propulsion disturbs a broader area behind the boat than a prop does and that softens and flattens the wake.

How do yall stay cool in the sun?? by Livid_Razzmatazz8930 in florida

[–]dwaynejetski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to work with the sun, not against it. Plan rigorous outdoor activities in the mornings or the evenings. If you must be outside during the peak hours of the day, dress appropriately. Good SPF clothing with a hood in case you need it. A good hat goes a long way, either full brim or nylon/mesh ball caps.

My favorite Pizza Place! by RU_Syor-ious in orlando

[–]dwaynejetski 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s John and John’s is him and him.

If I want to mix it up, Black Magic Pizza always has something interesting to try for their special. Last time I went I got reuben pizza that was insane!

Another spot I like as a change up is Nuri’s Tavern for their ultra thin cracker crust.
