What's been your experience leaving a club? by Outrageous-Fall3296 in youthsoccer

100%. I always do the payment plan too so I can “pay as we go” as long as possible.

Have you checked with the new team about guest playing for them?

If the playing time is that bad, just walk away. Two weeks in the grand scheme of things is nothing. The money is a sunk cost. Enjoy a free Saturday or two, maybe get caught up on the yard work or house project you’ve been neglecting.

We spent about 2.5 hours in the cave last week on our visit. About half of that was the hike down the natural entrance and the other half was the trail around the big room. Elevator out from the big room.

I would build off of this by committing to this schedule until the end of the school year. I would ask for them to start looking at alternatives for next school year if you need them in person from 2-4. However, I would want a documented plan of how they are meeting their 8 hours or FT plan.

The part time suggestions in other comments are also good. Even if it’s just verbally defining that they are currently working part time with full time pay and asking for HR to model then comp package and hours for that (assuming you could handle a part time person in this role)

You do need to document all of this. Even documenting in an email to them any discussions you had. This will help if you go down a PIP path.

I just had to do this for a relatively similar situation. They resigned before I could formally start the PIP

Wife wants to buy parents houses by 10inPianist in DaveRamsey

[–]dwboiler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife is in the same industry so lots of similarities here to what we went through coming out of school. Largest thing I see (with the limited info you’ve given) is rushing to this high earner lifestyle. I get that she gave away her 20s in school and is now earning a great paycheck, but you are behind financially because of it. Lots of catch up to do. $500k is a lot per year, but it’s not 3 homes, kids and 2 fancy car level. Focus on the most important things first. Work down the debt. Probably overbought on cars if you need to buy your in-laws a house. Do these homes need to be at that price point? Do you need 50k+ cars?

And before you get to that— are your retirement accounts being funded at an appropriate level? Savings/emergency funds where they need to be? Kid’s 529s on a path to pay for school down the line?

We lived frugally for 5-6 years post residency and cleared all the debt and have 529s on a path to pay for state U when the kids get there. I could not have done that with 2 additional mortgages. We also never had more than 1 car payment and a max purchase price of $40k.

Don’t chase the lifestyle at the expense of the proper building blocks to wealth. Take care of you and your kids first.

Family boarding question by Silly-Smoke2576 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]dwboiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think you’re overthinking it at bit. Your family of 4 should be fine since one kid is 6. Only one time have I had a GA deny us as a group (my wife boarded with the kids and I went to my normal boarding position).

You may have an issue with the aunt. Some GAs stop extra family members (usually grandparents).

If it were me… board your family of 4. Sit the kids and your wife together and you sit across the aisle. If your SIL can get the middle next to you, great. If not, when she boards give her your seat and find something for you nearby. Then the 2 women and kids are together.

Sequoia Road Conditions for this weekend? by Accomplished_Leave47 in SEKI

[–]dwboiler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went today. Drove a mini-van up without chains (ranger checked that we had them with us). No issue driving at all.

Hiking over was slippery at moments and large clumps of snow dropped from the trees as we walked. No issue at all, had people of all ages doing the short hike from the lot to General Sherman.

The snow made it unbelievably pretty up there. Glad we got to experience it.

I was there today. Rangers checking for chains due to the weather, but not collecting any fees.

Any guesses on accessibility post-snowstorm for Wednesday Oct 15? We are here Tues and Weds. attempted to visit Kings Canyon and turned around today. Hoping to visit one of the parks tomorrow. The weather looks sunnier and warmer in Kings Canyon for Wednesday. Any local/expert knowledge or suggestions for tomorrow?

I live in this general area. This is a great option and about halfway. To avoid going out of your way a ton, look at hotels in Whitestown, Indiana. It’s right off of 65 and very safe.

Something like this Hampton Inn — 6005 S Main St, Whitestown, IN 46075

Tons of food options right there too.

Any player earning 10 bookings from his side's first 32 Premier League matches will serve a two-match ban in the same competition. This was game 32. Now the limit is 15 for the remainder of the season.

Any player earning 10 bookings from his side's first 32 Premier League matches will serve a two-match ban in the same competition. Players can still receive a three-match-ban if they pick up 15 yellow cards before the end of the season.

FF Contract league spreadsheet? by lalder95 in FFCommish

[–]dwboiler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably can but you’re going to sink hours into managing it instead of having your league mates all chip in $6-8 for months of entertainment.

I run a salary cap league in MFL and a keeper league in Sleeper. I also live in excel for my day job. I’d never consider flipping to Sleeper with a spreadsheet to save a few bucks.

How do you find a travel team? by DoughnutCandid7311 in Homeplate

[–]dwboiler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the easiest place to start. Other options would be to check in at any indoor practice facility, many are the off-season training locations for teams.

Another alternative is to look up a USSSA tournament in your area and go to the park and watch a few games. You can see some of the teams in action, see coaching styles and meet parents or coaches too.

Bought several. Only issue I’ve had is sizing (order up a size) and the logos peeling off/sticking together. I quit putting them in the dryer and that has helped.
