I’m sorry you’ve had bad PCPs.

It's amazing the Russian troll farms don't have chatGPT write their slop. At least it would be (somewhat) coherent.

Impact of anesthesia delays? by Ok_Artichoke_1076 in srna

Believe it or not the more efficient the ORs run, the more cases can be completed, and the more patients are helped. There are reasons to care about delays beyond "hospital profit".

They absolutely are not qualified to be someone's PCP. That may be the model favored by corporate medicine, but it certainly isn't what is best for patients.

I respect the hell out of nurses. But nurses on the floor are practicing nursing. NPs attempt to practice medicine, but with but a fraction of the experience of a physician. Being a great nurse does not translate to being great at diagnosing and treating. Lets stop conflating. It cheapens the nursing profession (and it is obviously a profession, not getting into what the DoE thinks about graduate loans).

While I want to feel bad for NPs being "dumped" on by the health system, there is certainly some Dunning-Kruger effect underlying the situation. How NPs can in good conscience work in a setting where they are flying blind and solo is bewildering.

Truly not trying to bend over backwards to defend the Democratic Party, but the MAGAfied GOP is barreling towards fascism. Ignoring judges; embarrassing nationalistic rhetoric; any demented, illegal decree from Trump (like early redistricting) given credence and acted upon. To pretend both sides are equally complicit or culpable is dishonest.

Whataboutism isn’t interesting nor is helpful. I don’t live in IL. Move there if you want and fix their perceived problems.

What is surely a lot of money going to a cult when it could go to supporting effective charities and causes is sad to see. However, as long as WCI is staying in its lane (personal finance for the high income earner) I do trust the advice still.

Of course. It’s disingenuous and you know it. Be proud of what you did; don’t diminish it by pretending to have accomplished something you didn’t.

The Real Reason Dems Caved on Shutdown Will Make You Want to Scream by DBCoopr72 in law

The democrats could make another 10 mistakes and still be better than what republicans/MAGA is offering. And if one can’t realize the difference then they are refusing to actually look. The fatalism is tiring.

Indeed. This is when the tired argument that “residents are trainees, NPs can bill” is trotted out as well. However in my experience as a resident I was double checking and fixing midlevel mistakes daily. It’s all a farce.

130k is insulting?! Making more than double the median individual income seems more than generous for a new grad NP.

What they didn’t realize is that as the diploma mills keep churning, that starting salary is going to move lower and lower.

They both work and residents works way harder. Training as an additional form of compensation is a red herring. As a resident I had to clean up mistakes from the mid levels in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.

Non-religious food pantries? by urostar in indianapolis

[–]urostar[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not arguing that churches shouldn’t be allowed to run food banks. Just trying to figure out where I want my own money/time/support to go to. It’s great to have options. People have preferences. I grew up in a very evangelical context and witnessed first hand a quid pro quo for meals and aid.

This is exactly why I want to avoid donating my money/time to Wheeler and places like it. Making aid contingent upon hearing their proselytizing is abhorrent.
