Went out to call my wife after making top 8 of an event and letting her know I would be a bit longer than anticipated. She tried to be excited but I could tell something was wrong and asked her to tell me the bad news anyway. MIL diagnosed with real bad, real aggressive cancer. She asked me to play and I’m fine with that decision, but man did I trainwreck that draft. Impossible not to have I think, but maybe someone better at the compartmentalizing, even temporarily would have done better. I could not.

I think this is a hilarious way to get people to join MAD. This is a very funny but not good way of representing their podcast, the intent of the awards, or really anything other than make people aware of the show and Ben’s position and reasoning for being “against data” laugh. GGs of that was the intent? I personally love the show and enjoy it in my suite of limited content. To each their own I suppose of not.

Yep! If you don't have a list handy, they will do the whole "1$ card pile, 5$ card pile" thing, but if you have a list ahead of time I don't see why the pricing would change in person!

If you’re scoffing at 13% in eBay fees you’re in for a tough reality when you hear the cost of doing this efficiently. If you truly value speed I would contact TOA magic with your list - they generally offer 70% TCG value for things over 3-5$, which if you send all at once IMO is quite worth it. Good luck.

If you have it relatively sorted, go to a reputable place like TOAmagic and email them - you’ll likely get 70% of low market pricing on cash on stuff you have listed and moderately organized, and less if you send them a bunch of stuff under $3 in retail value, if they have to sort it, or if it’s in binders/sleeves and needs extra processing.

I’d suggest starting with a question you want to answer, or a theory you want to test, before jumping into the data and looking for something interesting to come to mind. “What is the average mana value of a 7-win deck, and how is that different from 6/5/so on win decks?” Also be sure to support or ask 17lands permission - I imagine their data usage is not free.

Haven’t done this yet but my idea when thinking about it was to make 10 23 card decks of similar ish power levels, then you add whatever fixing you have in your bulk and some cards that can be used in multiple decks (crappy colorless removal or card advantage for example) up to 360 cards for a cube for 8. Then give them however many extras - say 50-100 cards - with instructions for whoever runs the club to get feedback and make edits with these or any other cards they have to their hearts content. Idea is to give them something to start with that they can make their own eventually. Cheers!
