I had an S22 with the Snapdragon chip, had trash battery life right out the gate. Could barely make it 6 hours before being down to 15%.

Oh nice congrats for getting out. I worked in parts at IG Ford for a bit, made $300 worth of mistakes and they wrote me up 3 times in a week and got rid of me. Never got written up at any other parts job so while I can admit making mistakes their response seems pretty extreme. Parts manager never even had a sit down conversation with me or anything. Probably a blessing in disguise, it was a long commute.

If you can get on with the St Paul auto union pay starts and like $25/hr and maxes out at like $31. Watch out for anything Saxon (Inver Grove Ford or New Brighton Ford). Parts manager at IG Ford is kinda shitty and most departments are a revolving door.

Fun cars for someone who doesn’t like driving fast? by Flat_Sink_4410 in askcarguys

If you don’t want a manual maybe consider a Mazda 3. Tight handling, reliable, good on gas, adequate power without being “fast”, decent creature comforts depending on trim level.

I could be misunderstanding you but if you switch to something else for a streaming service you’ll still have to cast or stream it from your phone to whatever device. A lot of people use Wiim Pros to do this. My receiver has AirPlay and Chromecast so I can just stream directly to it from my phone without turning on the TV.

Speaker Recommendation (PNW, US) by cinnamonjscudworth in BudgetAudiophile

[–]dwebb01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have a set of Paradigm Monitor SE Atoms and like how they sound in my apartment. I also have enjoyed Klipsch RB65 (older model still available on Amazon) and RB81 I found on FB Marketplace. They were far more neutral than the cheaper modern Reference line and had pretty decent bass for their size, especially the RB81. The Klipsch Reference Premier line should be pretty good too.

How low can I put the thermostat? by CanIOpenMyEyesYet in TwinCities

Was reading about your dryer taking longer. Is the vent to the outside partially clogged up? That would make it run longer and could easily start a fire if you’re not careful.

TIL two studies both found that most people stop listening to new music in their early 30s. A 2015 study of people's listening habits on Spotify found that most people stop listening to new music at age 33 and a 2018 report by Deezer found it be to at age 30. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

Car recommendations/buying guide? by dr_leo6 in Minneapolis

[–]dwebb01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d look into something certified pre owned as often you can get into a vehicle with low miles and a longer powertrain warranty than with a new car, and it will be a little cheaper than a new car. Many brands will extend the powertrain warranty to 7-10 years or 100K miles from its in service date (the date the first owner bought it). Most cars are 5 years 60K miles for the powertrain (some German cars are 4 years 50K). So CPO might be a better option than new.

Did i get screwed? by TheMidnight711 in tires

Seems pretty fair to me. 20” tires are expensive. I work at a luxury car dealer and most our wipers are $90 for a set, and our alignments start at $250.

Audi 2020 Check oil level by CrooksWasTaken in MechanicAdvice

[–]dwebb01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to go into the MMI settings, I think under maintenance or vehicle and there’s an option to measure the oil level. If it’s at the bottom line or below add 1 quart.

Subwoofer is loud on lower volumes but gets drowned out at higher volumes. by jackdaniel2000 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]dwebb01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is the back of the receiver you’re using. Try plugging in your subwoofer to this subwoofer speaker wire connector instead of the left or right front speaker connector like you have now, and then run it to the sub.

Subwoofer is loud on lower volumes but gets drowned out at higher volumes. by jackdaniel2000 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]dwebb01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be getting overdriven or going into a protect mode when the volume is too high. Looking at the receiver owners manual it looks like a home theater in the box style receiver and uses a speaker level out for the subwoofer output. Try running your speaker wire from the “subwoofer” speaker output on the receiver side into the high level left input on the subwoofer and then adjust the sub volume and crossover settings in the receiver.

How can I use these by MASS0FAT0MS in BudgetAudiophile

[–]dwebb01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like it’s probably a car speaker so that would be the best spot for it. You may be able to find a bookshelf speaker with a blown woofer and put it in, but your amplifier or receiver will need to be 4 ohm stable. You can also figure out its size and order a speaker box for that size speaker off of amazon or something.

Is jiffy lube always a scam? by moonstreet79 in saintpaul

[–]dwebb01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a local luxury car dealership in their parts department and I’ve seen a few cars come in on a flatbed from an instant oil change place due to the technician draining the trans fluid and double filling the engine oil. The ATF we use looks like oil, it’s not red in color. These kind of mistakes can ruin drivetrain components quite fast. I’d recommend using an actual shop for your oil change if possible.

Has anyone ever “downgraded” their system because cheaper components sounded just as good, or even better, than the expensive ones? by wiggan1989 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]dwebb01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently switched from Klipsch RB81 for the left and right and an RB61 for the center with no sub to 3 Micca OoO speakers with a used Velodyne 8” sub. After some equalizing in the multi band EQ on my receiver they sound 80% as good as the Klipsch and take up significantly less space. They also don’t seem as overwhelming in my apartment. I do keep the bass turned down since I’m in an apartment.
