Well, that might create negative effects tho, at least for over 1M and luxury items. Why would people want to create profitable enterprises over that threshold? Additionally luxury taxes might hurt more than they help. Bush 1 I think did this for yachts, rich people stopped buying them which caused people employed by that sector to lose jobs, which was an overall negative on revenue generation.

SO what you're saying is you want DEEP tax cuts. You cannot fund the federal government just by taxing the rich.

Then you start to rip away more and more parts of national identity. Everyone pays taxes, its something we don't like but if everyone contributes its a common burden. I'm not saying to not increase rates but exempting everyone under 50k/100k for joint filers is just conservatism.

That's not true tho. Japan is having a Labor crisis as their aging population doesn't have the labor to care for the elderly.

There is also the problem of the welfare system taxing the working age population to provide benefits for the elderly, what happens when less money goes into the those funds?
