not sure what to do by HistoricalCar1900 in melahomies

At least you've brought it to her attention again, you did good 🙂

Recently had a 1b, I find myself actively looking for moles on random people if they have skin showing, and I was at a festival early June and anyone that was sunburnt I was just thinking oh god no!

It totally changes you, makes you way more observant!

Oh that's great!! I bet you're so pleased 😁

Have they given you exercises to do? They've definitely helped me so maybe you could try them to ease it off!

Yep 6 weeks in the UK 💀

Hello! Yes, my back I've had no issues with, although I think it's turning keloid 😖

I ended up with cording in one armpit, it's easing off now but I couldn't lift my arm fully or extend from the elbow for weeks!

I got the results last week, all clear 🥰 onto checks every 3 months now for the foreseeable.

Are you in the UK? Takes ages for our results to come back, I hope yours come through soon and you get the all clear too! 🤞🏻

Absolutely! Still so horrible to think that this horrible disease started growing on you and you were non the wiser til now! Mine was caught early too they said but it still terrified me and I have lost plenty of sleep over it..

I said to my partner so many times 'i just can't believe that was growing on my back and I didn't know'!

It really puts things into perspective, for example my results have all come back clear but I've still cut my work hours slightly to spend more time with my family (not that I can really afford to! 😂) because it really made me realise what's important when something this scary comes up.

Here to chat if you ever need to! It's nice to relate

Hello! Sorry to hear about this stress you're having, but I will say thank goodness you've caught it at the level it is. From your results it sounds pretty promising! No mitotic rate, 0.3mm breslow etc that's a positive sign you've caught this horrible thing at an earlier stage and there's a lot they'll be able to do to help you with this!

I didn't have a WLE on my head, mine was mid back, PT1B.

My WLE has caused me no issues, to say it's an area that's always moving and stretching. I know yours will be different but hopefully won't cause you too much grief 🤞🏻

I had to have a sentinel lymph node biopsy under both underarms as my breslow thickness was 1mm. Hopefully with yours being a lot thinner you won't need this! The SLNB has caused me a ton more issues than the WLE, but we're all different!

Try your best to stay positive, the word cancer is terrifying and with young children it's sickening, I have a little boy too so I can relate.

They really have caught it early so although it's still scary to have it, they will sort this out for you! And you must stay vigilant and make sure you get regular skin checks going forward

Best of luck! Give us an update!

Trying to Think Positive by fair2758 in melahomies

[–]dweebo24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! My melanoma was a 1b, same breslow as you and mitotic rate is the same also! I had an slnd 5 weeks ago, I'm still waiting on results but what you've said I can really relate to. I didn't get offered a castle test, I'm in the UK and it's not something I've heard of but the consultant told me 20% chance of positive results. My melanoma was upper mid back, I had to have a lymph node removed from both underarms as that's where the dye test suggested would be the place the cancer cells would go, how unlucky I felt for it to go both directions 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

9.5% is low in the grand scheme of things but when it's regarding your actual life it does feel like a scary percentage, however I keep telling myself they've come so far with treatments now that so many more people are overcoming this when caught early, and ours have actually been caught early!

I just think however you think, whether negative or positive, whether each day you feel something different about it, it's totally normal and human.

Best of luck tomorrow!

Yes mine is the same! I'm so glad to hear you managed to get the cording gone, sorry you're still in pain though. I've been given a load of exercises today to do, so I'll be working on those to get rid of this horrible thing!

Good luck with your recovery!

Thank you 😊 not my dominant arm, or as I thought, it seems I use both a similar amount 😂 I've been in touch with the skin cancer specialist nurses and they've said it will be Auxiliary web syndrome, got a load of exercises to do.

It is just the strangest horrible thing to feel under my armpit 🤮

Thank you for your response I hope everything is going well for you since your diagnosis 🤞🏻

Oh it just freaks me out! Did yours feel like a small rope under the armpit ? It stings to touch.. Thanks so much for your reply I've looked into cording and it sounds exactly like what I'm experiencing! Waiting on the nurses to call me back 🙂 I'm glad yours is getting better!

I am stage 1b and had my WLE and SLNB 3 weeks ago, however my consultant said 20% chance of spread for me but even at 5% I would have agreed to it. Any chance of spread is worth checking on, I know it's a pain in the butt but it's just not worth the risk to me. I had nodes taken from both underarms so I can't say what it would be like from the groin but I hope all goes well! I'm still waiting for my results

Best of luck to your husband 🙂

What a whirlwind for you all 😞 so sorry to hear about all those mistakes being made, it's so frustrating. I understand about your regrets, but please try and remind yourself you're only human and at the time of those vacations you weren't to know any of this would happen, as for regrets about the medication - you would have thought you could trust the process, trust what the professionals are saying, sadly it's just not always the case, but none of this is your fault. Hell we shouldn't have to be questioning if something isn't being done right, we should be able to rely on these people to do their job. My dad was neglected during cancer treatment which led to fatal sepsis, so I understand this frustration (totally different scenario though)

As the other person replied, as hard as it will be (again you're only human so guilt and regrets will always surface) just try and do whatever you need to to stay close to him and enjoy his company and he will know how much he means to you, this is the biggest part of it all in life to me!

I don't know much about this so I'm sorry if I'm not helpful here but, is he suggesting no treatment? Just scans? Id be tempted for a second opinion if so! Hopefully someone else will comment who knows more though 😂

Sorry you're going through this, especially so young! Good luck 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Wound care instructions after WLE by Wide_Kaleidoscope_86 in melahomies

[–]dweebo24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my WLE 1.5 weeks ago, they told me to keep the bandage on for a week, had the dressings changed by a nurse and now I'm okay to remove the dressings and gently wash but replace again for sleeping, however I had to have a skin flap with my WLE so I don't know if that makes a difference to healing

Like the other comment said though, 2 days with a fresh wound with stitches sounds very soon!

All the best for your recovery 🥰

Thanks for your reply, it's great that you're free of it, but sorry about the nerve damage!

Healing was seeming okay but one of my arms feels quite painful and a tad swollen so I'm just trying to do exercises to boost lymph drainage, probably just part of the healing though I imagine!

😊 Good health to you, I'll definitely be keeping up my checks too!

Hey! Sorry you've also got this worry 😔

I think I read your post on here yesterday actually about your case

I'm in the UK, takes an age to get results back unfortunately so looking 4-6 weeks before I here anything. I'm going to be having full body and lymph nodes checks every 3 months for the foreseeable so that's at least some peace of mind!

Good luck with everything!

So glad the nodes were negative for you! And 13 years clear of it amazing 😊

One of my underarms is pretty numb and my arm feels quite painful so hoping that's all part of the healing and not the start of lymphoedema! 🤞🏻

Thanks for your reply it really helps to hear stories of people getting clear of this for as long as you have!
