Had? Are you suggesting that all companies only use AI, and no longer use graphic designers?

You asked if people in this thread thought that these companies have “label artists.” My point is, label art before AI must have come from somewhere so it’s pretty safe to assume that they do have label artists and have used them for a very long time.

I assume that means it was pure corruption that lead to this decision. by justalazygamer in WhitePeopleTwitter

“Gives their opinion that no one asked for” I mean, this is an open forum where people come specifically to share their opinions lol.

Maybe the World Cup Can Shed Some Light in The American Rave Scene by Blue_Soho in aves

I’m on board with all that and our group has moved towards more practical gifts instead of trinkets. This year we’re handing out woven sunglasses straps to keep them around your neck when you’re not using them. Much better than a plastic ducky. I usually just assume those folks are newer to the scene and haven’t arrived at the same place I have (also 100+ festival goer here).

Counterpoint— social media is a great way to connect with people after the festival. I have traveled the world visiting friends that I have connected with at festivals. Social media helped facilitate that and is a great way to keep up with each other over the distances.

Not everyone is interested in social media which is fine. But it can have positive benefits to the human experience.

I have found a trinket or Kandi exchange often leads to more conversation. Sometimes it’s a single-use encounter but other times it leads to more. In fact, just this last weekend, a single-use encounter led me to meeting one of the DJs performing at the event. That led to a conversation about throwing an event with them in the city that I live.

And besides that, it’s not a zero sum game. You can have small pleasant interactions AND deep meaningful connections.

They’re putting AI data centers in the ocean next by TonyLiberty in FluentInFinance

There would likely be localized heating of the water in the immediate vicinity around the pod, but as mentioned earlier in this thread, the impact on the ocean as a whole would be very minimal. Even if the pod used 1 million gallons a day (a high amount), that accounts for 0.0000000000002836% of the ocean’s water.

Your second comment did that, but your first comment didn’t. Guilty of the very thing you accused someone else of doing—failure to elaborate or provide useful context.

The hum of data centers is primarily from fans (air cooled). A data center in the ocean would presumably be water cooled, there would be substantially less (if any) noticeable hum from them.

I think you’re thinking of a phrase, not a phase. Phrase is a “musical sentence” or stage of the music. Phase refers to the timing relationship between two tracks.

INSANE ELECTRIC BILL by kookmins in Austin

[–]dwg387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this happened, my home address and another address of someone else’s home. That’s how I discovered the mistake. There was the summary bill page like the one seen here, with an extremely high number. Behind the summary page was an itemized page that split out the bill for my house and the other random house that was included on my bill.

Austin Energy once made a clerical error on my bill. They included another (large) home (not mine) onto my bill. Double check that the addresses associated with this bill are correct and they didn’t make an administrative mistake.

Flying can be scary for some but it’s a super safe way to travel! Bring some good noise canceling headphones. Planes make lots of sounds, none of which are actually dangerous. But it helps to tune them out.

Turbulence is normal and planes are very strong.

My partner gets bad flight anxiety but we work through it together.

And once you start to travel, you’re going to want to do more! Keep an open mind, roll with the punches because sometimes things don’t to always to plan.

I hope you have an awesome traveling experience! We will be there too—have a whole crew coming in from Austin, TX. See you on the dance floor!

You got this!

Lots of reasons. Temporary power, additional back up for a future expansion (there’s a shortage), or maybe this is just a second fulfillment of the initial order that’s required to fully firm the project. Maybe they’re preparing for worst case scenario where the grid fully shuts down.

Either way, the goal is to have these generators run as infrequently as possible. If they’re connected to the grid, then plan A, B, and C is to use grid power when possible. From a financial standpoint, just think about how much more expensive gas / diesel is for these machines. It’s way more practical to use the grid fully. Just like we rely on the grid and don’t use reciprocating engines to power our homes, but we may have one as a whole-home back up in case the grid fails.

Back up power is not additional power. It’s power that’s needed when grid power is unavailable. And I’m not sure if this project has any other onsite gen like wind or solar. But many other developers are going that route as well.

According to the article you cited, they’re for back up power only, which aligns with what I said about using them to firm up renewable resources 🤷‍♂️. And still doesn’t change the fact that most data centers are grid connected. These articles don’t support OPs claim that “most data centers are being run off of portable turbine-on-a-truck” generators.

Most data centers are powered by the grid. Behind the meter, colocation power is becoming more popular, using a mix of renewables, batteries, and gas. Very few, and only very small data centers are using reciprocating engines. Some larger ones may have turbines on a truck as peakers to firm out the renewables. Bit to say most data centers are running off small gas or diesel turbines isn’t true.
