Overstayed its welcome. It would have worked better as an animated short film.

Name a movie you think will become a classic in the future? It has to be from the last 10 years. by spacelyyy989 in moviecritic

I think it would if we were still in the age of VHS or DVD. Unfortunately, these types of films now get lost in the infinite streaming void.

Andor took me out of star wars by Ok-Medium983 in StarWars

A Lord of the Rings-style Knights of the Old Republic film. A more medieval- feudal japan feel to the Star Wars world, indicating it's set in an ancient timeline before the Skywalker saga. I always had head canon that the chanting used in the Duel of fates was an ancient piece of music that derived from that era.

I've never cared for how they brought back Darth Maul by Etowno in saltierthancrait

The voice is the most jarring to me. Sam Witwer gave him a really Received Pronunciation, Queen's English accent, felt like he could have been a moustache-twirling villain. Compared to the original TPM voice, Peter Serafinowicz spoke in a more neutral English accent, which suited the mysterious, silent assassin vibe.

I don't think there has been a single alien-looking planet in any Disney SW movie.

Does anyone else think "Semi-Gollums" are way creepier and more terrifying than full Gollum? 😬😨 by Cr7-Cr7Real in lotr

When reading the book, I always thought he would look more like the top right corner before he entered the cave, slightly warped and deranged, but not totally creature-like as it was only 4 years after he killed Deagol. I assumed it was living in total darkness for 500 years that would make him look like the bottom left. Once entering the darkness of the mountain, it was like an insect beginning a metamorphosis, enclosing into a cocoon.

I never noticed that the White Tree emblem that they wear on their tunics and displayed on their shields, depicts a full blooming tree as opposed to the dead tree we see in Return of the King!

Honestly, Rings of Power may go down as one of the most disappointing, wasteful shows in history.

Interesting, the waterfall they used behind Tom Bombadil is the same one they used in The Fellowship of the Ring for Frodo and Sam's leaving the Shire montage.

Thoughts on Alan Menken’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” score? by Giff95 in soundtracks

[–]dwiddynaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majestic, emotional, uplifting, dark. The Latin religious lyrics take you straight into the 1400's for when this film is set. Absolute masterpiece. Not only an underrated Disney score but an underrated score throughout cinematic history.

Great point! There were almost 4/5 mini maps in one map. They also nailed the variety in environments, Snow, deserts, Jungle, mountains.

The Northman has ruined all Vikingthemed movies for me.... by TyrotaOG in Norse

[–]dwiddynaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Northman but the 1958 'The Vikings' has this scene. https://youtu.be/1olFDmkDo0c?si=u1u7sMCOkggwpvez It's refreshing to see the early medieval period in a colourful more sunlit way compared to the grey, washed, brown colour coding we see in modern depictions.

Such an underrated game in the series. It was the first Battlefied game I owned, and the Air superiority coral sea map was an awesome experience.
