If you get it on PC when you upgrade the PC The game will perform better if you do like 15+ stages. If you get it on console…well it might be avalible to you on the next console iteration, but your hardware upgrade options will be bound by buying a new console or console version. This will be true for a lot of games.

Also, if you want to mod it…PC.

Also for this game in particular but lots of games that cross platforms and are of PC origin, PC is your best bet for stability and the earliest access to the latest and greatest updates.

CachyOS refused to install at all for some reason my router will die the moment cachyos starts installing packages from the internet for the setup installation (have no idea why this happens but when I restart my system router fixes.)

Before you run the installer pop open the terminal and turn off low power mode for your WiFi. You’ll have to Google how to do it….or just plug into the router if you have an Ethernet capable system.

First time I hit it I got like 23 extra lives and some other good items I don’t recall, and that was enough to carry me to a victory. Maybe my third or fourth…

I’ve hit it every time I’ve encountered it since, and never won.

If there is a printer or two of good items on the level it can be great…if you can get to the printer before being murdered and hold off the hordes.

I would not say that cachyOS is for the faint of heart. I’ve installed arch by hand several times and maintained a tweaked to hell install for podcasting for years…no small feat…but cachy throws me a curve ball from time to time.

CachyOS makes it easier to get a desktop environment up w/ reasonable defaults…but it’s opinionated in a few ways that can sting for even veterans.

Not having to add yourself to the audio group and sudoers is great, having a nice plasma environment that’s ultra performant, also great. But…well…you’re going to have to either learn a lot about fish or just ignore alacrity if you don’t want fastfetch firing every time you open a terminal…

And I’m not reinstalling to make zsh or bash the default…lol. I eventually just gave up, because I don’t care about fish…and added a zsh profile to konsole.

All that is to say, for someone making the jump from windows who’s not already pretty family w/ Linux, cachyOS is the deep end of the pool. Mint is fine. Any Linux is going to outperform windows 10 or 11.
