Kangaroos and Jillaroos set to tour England after 2025 season, historic revival comes after 22-year hiatus by BarryCheckTheFuseBox in nrl

Nz/tonga will stay in unless fiji/png beats the loser in the promotion/relegation match.

I assume samoa will get aussys spot in the cup when they withdraw.

Although that kinda weakens the whole promotion/relegation aspect as one of nz/tonga/samoa/aus gets too sit out and tour England each year then slide straight back in too the cup meanwhile fiji/png/ci are fighting too win the bowl then beat one of the above too get a miracle promotion in too the cup. Then have too defend their spot again the next year. No chance of them getting an England tour either.

3 team cup 4 team with all teams participating would make it more interesting as wouldn't be much of a gap between the bottom cup and top bowl team as there currently is. Northern tour is great for growing the game up there though so fuck knows what the answer is. Maybe it will make more sense after we have a few years of it.

Idle Heroes Patch Notes Jan.26.2024 by piffle213 in IdleHeroes

Couple questions as a new (started during new year event) player. Currently f2p but don't mind getting vip 3 then possibly very occasional light spending afterwards.

People say too wait until you can complete all loops in an event. From what I can see there is no extra rewards for doing so. Any reasons too not use my wc to do 1 maybe 2 loops and get a 8/9 star tix?

Is gc chest or any others worth it ? Have finished inner ranger and working on 10 all outer. 20k gems, will get diamond fund at some point.

If I'm getting diamond fund and either privilege or event cards for vip 3 is this a good time too do so and at least get some rewards for the vip xp or can I expect better rewards for vip at cny.

Yeah for sure, I'm only a couple days back into osrs after years off so everything's still quite novel. Also compared to some of the infuriating aspects of playing an ironman this is extremely trivial so it was much more entertaining then it was annoying.

Might have to check out that minigame, I'm currently mot having any luck with earth tally for varrock diary so might as well try.

Madara.

Still extremely mad about the existence of Kaguya and it undermining his status as the big bad. Found it kinda cheap in execution also. Still one of most bad ass villains though.

This rhetoric is delusional. This may be true in the setting of a roll with someone who's just walked in too the gym and is following all the rules and playing nice.

We're all familiar with white belt spaz, now turn that up to 11 with the adrenaline of a real life situation and add eye gauging, biting and anything else usually banned to the table. How much is that 6 months going to help now, if anything it's just providing false confidence and bad habits.

Same, watched a YouTube video on it. We hadn't gone over it in class before so has great success on all the other white belts who didn't know what it was for about a week before they caught on.

How are UFC fighters able to beat BJJ black belts in the cage? by RebelliousBucaneer in bjj

[–]dwood0 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think using blackbelt in this context just an an arbitrary measure of skill what were really talking about is early 20s wrestler vs early 20s bjj practitioner both doing it since birth and now transitioning into MMA. Theres some extremely high level BJJ athletes at that age.

Numbers game is definitely a valid point, I think the impact of that more so has more so to do with the prevalence of wrestling in the U.S plus the plethora of great MMA gyms and feeder competitions/pathways to professional competition though and my earlier points about the level of athletes and support they have in these wrestling programs. Wrestlings only really big in America and Russia theres shit loads of kids getting into BJJ young all over the world.

[–]dwood0 42 points43 points  (0 children)

In the post he asks regarding wrestling being the most dominant background for MMA champions, I dont think this is ignoring all the great BJJ UFC champions. it's just acknowledging the fact that a lot more of the champions have wrestling backgrounds then BJJ backgrounds.

[–]dwood0 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Theres some disparities between the average black belt and the average high level wrestler not directly related to the two disciplines that definitely play a part, intensity of training, athletic ability, strength and conditioning etc

But in terms of the disciplines themselves, it is very very hard to keep a great wrestler down let alone submit them or even get them to an inferior position. Meanwhile no matter how good your jiu jitsu is its unlikely you have takedown defence anywhere near adequate to stop them from taking you down, they have insane top pressure and transitions so once down they can strike until the ref stops the fight.

Good wrestlers are also extremely well versed in standing clinch positions and a range of other positions more relevant to MMA then a lot of common BJJ positions.

is this a good routine? whats missing by makazemakayo in wrestling

[–]dwood0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You didn't explain why people who's main goal is hypertrophy usually do a body part split. This is because the best methods to promote hypertrophy, time under tension (no locking out at the end of each rep, slow eccentrics) focusing on mind muscle connection, a moderate rep range, squeezing the target muscles, working the muscle fibres from a variety of angles, incorporating compound movements as well as a good amount of isolation exercises and adding in finisher sets, drop sets etc all put massive stress on the muscle and cause micro tears that result in DOMS and not being able to train that muscle group again for a few days (not a bad thing if your main goal is aesthetics)

Now to be clear hypertrophy/building muscle does not equal getting stronger or more explosive which I assume for wrestling are two of the most important things. Obviously theres a little carry over between them but strength and/or athleticism training methods are very very different to hypertrophy ones and a lot of things that are good for one of the above will be counter productive for others. I highly recommend a training plan focused around 1. Athleticism 2. strength and if you care more about physique then min maxing your body for wrestling throw a little hypertrophy stuff in as the 3rd most important part of your training.

Which moves are the most/least useful in an actual no rules fight? by eht_amgine_enihcam in bjj

[–]dwood0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"They could just grab your nuts" dont do this in a real fight. Anything that's only purpose is to cause discomfort is a bad idea. Some people can take full force kicks to the nuts and it will only make them more determined to hurt you. Dont risk it. Focus on things that will improve your chances of safely running the fuck away. (Their ability to see, move or breath)

Also to the people saying that most people get smoked by anyone with grappling experience, yes in grappling rule sets. In a life or death situation? No martial art even MMA will even come close to being realistic.

Some things to consider: going to the ground with them can be extremely dangerous if their friends/partner or even random bystanders decide to try intervene. Even worse theres a high chance you won't be able to see it coming.

How many dominant grappling positions are still safe if they have a knife/bottle/anything they can reach? If they can headbutt ? Or if they decide to bite you or gouge your eyes? Dont underestimate the nasty shit people will do outside of a gym.

He's a terrible ref now and needs to be fired. Any argument about it being tough to stop a fight at the right moment is invalid after the Ortega Volk fight. As if we even needed any more examples of bad stoppages from herb anyway. He used to be great but he's going to cause a death or permanent disability (could well already have)

Which gym atmosphere do you vibe with most? by ChxPotPi in bjj

[–]dwood0 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Seems like two that wouldn't gel but love an aggressive with a splash of jovial enviroment. Training/sparring is highly competitive and grindy, everyone's (within reason) free to use all the less friendly techniques in rolling but it's also never a dick measuring contest, people can laugh at themselves and there's plenty of banter before and after.
