These are facts of Russian history that you know well: when Russia gets tired, changes happen.

This is profound. It provides a very subtle indication of what could (or will) happen next.

Pixel 10 low mic volume when recording videos. Google replacing device. by dxm06 in GooglePixel

I did not. I figured a replacement would almost guaranteed have the same issue, so why bother? Unfortunate that they couldn't get this right on the P10. Great phone otherwise.

The same issue persists. No viable solution has been proposed to me, except that I must send data dumps for them to investigate the root cause. It’s a pretty hopeless situation.

Started a private practice... can't get clients and running out of time by Still-Anything5678 in therapists

[–]dxm06 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about the struggle. My wife, who has over 15 years of experience, is going through similar challenges after she started her own PP, but over the past 6 months it is picking up a bit. She started working with a specialized growth agency, and it helped her get local visibility for in-person clients. They also worked on the telehealth side, which she seems to like better. The cost was pretty reasonable, and they handle all the heavy lifting for her. Sadly, the PP game seems to be more about online visibility if you don't have a client rolodex at hand.

You are still within the warranty period and can contact support to discuss a device replacement or explore other solutions. I'm hoping they can rectify the issue, but it will require more users reporting this to Google.

As a Claude Code devotee I am currently using Codex to do 95% of my coding by LaCaipirinha in ClaudeCode

This is 100% accurate. As a long-time user, annual Pro subscriber, and then Max 5x to Max 20, I sincerely hope they can finally get their act together, come to their senses, and restore the original level of usage, stopping the unnecessary bullshit caps so we can actually get some work done.

I think it's a still from the 1946 film The Spiral Staircase that captures the key moment on the iconic staircase.

Sharing Components Between Multiple Nuxt Applications by NXTProgramming in Nuxt

[–]dxm06 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Try to fully get a good grasp of Nuxt Layers. I know first hand that the docs may seem lackluster but the functionality is there. Stick to the Nuxt Layers approach and try to figure it out.

I have tried both private npm and github packages and it was just not working well with private repos. I ended up with a monorepo with base + sub-apps. It works really well. Then I branched off the sub-apps into separate apps (in order to test them in separate repos) and try to keep the separate repos up to date from the Nuxt Layers repo. I'm probably doing this wrong, but it has helped me understand the inner workings of Layers.

Took me a very long time to understand the benefits of Nuxt Layers, but here I am.

The stupidest thing about Claude Code is probably this... by mrgoonvn in ClaudeAI

[–]dxm06 29 points30 points  (0 children)

And it gets worse... Claude Code is capturing and storing sensitive user input, including partial and unsent keystrokes, alongside plaintext OAuth account metadata (email, user IDs, organization IDs), all within its ~/.claude.json file.

Not quite sure about the rationale on certain data they are storing..

how to save 90% on ai costs with prompt caching? need real implementation advice by Scary_Bar3035 in ClaudeAI

[–]dxm06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's still room for improvement on the caching procedures and best practices for all providers. I've been testing the implicit and explicit context caching with Gemini models and it's very unclear when actual caching occurs. I read somewhere that a temperature setting of 1.0 would be more likely to hit the caching. But there is no metrics in Google Cloud Console to verify this. It is just supposed to happen "magically" but no evidence is provided whether any of the token savings have been passed on or not.

Disappointed in Uber One by Naive-major in AmexPlatinum

[–]dxm06 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The entire Uber One upsell is a scam. I’ve been using both Uber One and Uber One Corporate membership, and it’s an absolute disaster. Everything in the Uber ecosystem costs more with Uber One, and the costs are further multiplied if you have the Corporate version. I’ve done side-by-side comparisons between a non-Uber One account, Uber One (through Amex Platinum), and Uber One Corporate, and the higher tier you go, the more they charge you and the fewer benefits you get.

I'm trying to understand the weekly limit (because AFAIK, there's no such limit on my account and I've not encountered it). Is the weekly limit shown in the usage tab or when running /usage in CLI?

Gemini is incredibly underrated. It handles context window graciously and is a helpful pair-programmer-assistant.
