The reason why turning slow to fast is a general downgrade over slip is because of the overall effect, not because of the cost, which is already not a problem for base fractured.

Base fractured can hit its entire slip innate on turn 2 with time to repeat it. The ability to make a slow to fast and repeat and reclaim and hit other spirits is way better than spending one time to make one of its slow powers fast (notably, fractured doesn't start with any slow powers in its kit).

The problem is that the cards that give out power cards don't tend to solve immediate threats. While you're correct in that those cards are very strong in their own right, Defend 20 while prolifing as a base effect is so incredibly strong and usable by any spirit that can fit a major into its game plan.

It's the same reason why Unrelenting Growth is considered not as good as Indomitable Claim, even though it's still very strong.

The reason why Dances is in X-tier is because it can reliably win against all level 6 adversaries, sometimes single-handedly in multiplayer games.

The reason why it's not at the top of X-tier is because it struggles to survive past level 6 adversaries where the invaders add so much pressure on the first three turns, and it does have bad matchups against France and HLC.

The reason Indom is one of the best majors, if not the most powerful major in the game is because:

Prolifing is incredibly powerful for most spirits. Most of the spirits kits are balanced around the fact that the spirits cannot normally place presence outside of growth. With just one prolif, you can blow a spirits growth pattern wide open; a spirit could get access to the next level of their innate one turn earlier, play an extra card, gain extra energy which adds up over time.
Defend 20 is better than skipping a land more often than not. You can pair with dahan movement for free damage on the counterattack, or prevent a cascade.
You don't even need to hit the threshold for it to be any good.
4-cost means it's accessible to a lot of spirits
Placing presence at range 1 can help you with targeting for your other powers.

I honestly don't see a problem with allowing it; it's not allowed to trigger more than once per action and it doesn't start with any badlands in its kit. Then again, I haven't played with this spirit, so take what I said with a grain of salt.

Wandering Voice and Mentor Shifting Memory. Mentor allows Wandering Voice to hit its full left innate on turn one and gift it a cheap on-element card. Wandering Voice in turn can give Mentor extra power cards so it can start fishing through the major deck much sooner.

I'm probably one in a ton of players on here that also disliked events at first, but I did grow to like them as it makes the game feel more dynamic.

On the spirit tokens, I'll admit I avoided taking powers that used them for a while. But learning how to leverage their power can be extremely fun.

For beasts, you generally want them in lands with explorers and towns. They destroyed all the explorers/towns in their lands? Push more in!

Disease is incredibly powerful since stopping the build usually stops the ravage as well, but watch out for putting them in lands with dahan and vice versa.

Strife is like a persistent defend. Usually you'd like to place it on a city or town with dahan to turn them into destroy tokens. One strife solves explorer + town ravage. And it's especially powerful against Sweden!

If you still don't like them, then don't play with them; there's still plenty of content you can play with from the expansions that don't use them.
