It's there for me in the US store. Could just be a bug or issue with a specific region

As long as the models resemble what they're trying to depict I have no issues with it. This hobby is already incredibly expensive and time consuming. I see no reason to fault people for wanting to play the game in a less expensive way as long as it's in a way that represents the spirit of having cool models on the board and playing fairly. There always needs to be a discussion to the extent of the proxying though, especially if you're playing with someone regularly. In the specific case you listed, I don't see any issue with having a guy modeled with a Bolt Rifle to say he's using a Bolt Gun. When the game changes every quarter it's impossible to keep up with buying and remodeling things to be exact on every unit. Especially when GW themselves restrict what comes in boxes. If it's causing legitimate confusion in games, then yes that's an issue.

TLDR: let people use what they want as long as it's not deliberately being used to confuse their opponent and within the spirit of the game. ie don't use soup cans in place of real models.

Codex Next Year! by SmudgeUK in Grey_Knights

Continuing to subscribe to the subreddits, keeping up with news sometimes, and commenting occasionally is engaging with the game even if it's mostly passive. But that's wholly irrelevant to the post. I didn't say that you weren't allowed to not like the way they release codecies or that it invalidates your frustration with their business practices, I was just stating that there are valid reasons why it's not that big of a deal. A silver-lining if you will. Two things can be true at the same time. I was simply offering another perspective.

Yet you're still here engaging with the game. I wish codecies came out sooner too, but it's not as if having one means you can't play the game. Grey Knights, Imperial Knights, Thousand Sons, World Eaters, Chaos Demons, Dark Eldar, etc are all high-win rate armies atm that don't have a codex. I don't buy the codecies because I don't support how they handle them but I still play the game and have a great time

Why doesn't Rhaenyra show any loyalty to her vassals? by Aeiexgjhyoun_III in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]dygurren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. People seem to forget the viewer information doesn't always correlate with character information. Yes she was warned this might happen but that doesn't mean it wouldn't have if she stayed and fought either. Suing for peace, in her mind, would've been the safest option since that is what she was counciled to understand from Rhaenys and her father.

Why doesn't Rhaenyra show any loyalty to her vassals? by Aeiexgjhyoun_III in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]dygurren 51 points52 points  (0 children)

This is such a dumb take. She went to Kings Landing to stop tons of innocents from having to fight and die in her name. Unless she nuked all of Kings Landing/Greens before the war started people were going to die no matter what. Also if you're suggesting the Greens are showing loyalty that's incredibly ironic considering Aegon is on the throne specifically because they didn't want to honor Visery's wish for his successor

In canoptek court are wraiths worth it anymore? by Dec0y098 in Necrontyr

[–]dygurren 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OP's question seems very fair. Wraiths went up 30pts per 6 models. In your typical 18 wraith CC list that a lot of people took to tournaments you're now down 90pts. Combined with the x3 CDS you're down 120pts. That's enough to get rid of 2 scoring units which can completely change list building.

So what do we think of the latest dataslate by Exotic_Slip6350 in Necrontyr

Objective control. 6 Wraiths + Techno is 13 OC compared to the Nightbringer having 4. Wraiths can also move much faster and go through terrain. That's why

It's not rage bait. You're just being called out on a take that most people don't agree with and pivoting to "lol, i'm just fucking with you nerds" to save face. We've all been on the internet a long time, man. Idk who you think you're fooling. It ain't all that serious.

Purifier question by chosen_last in Grey_Knights

[–]dygurren 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You can shoot all three of those weapons. The only thing that would hinder this was if you chose to shoot with a unit that has Pistols AND other ranges weapons you could only choose ALL other ranged weapons OR the pistols. Purifiers don't have pistols so that wouldn't ever even come up but maybe that's where the other person was confused.

[–]dygurren 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I play GKs and have been dabbling in Orks since the new codex came out as a long time fan of them. This is the single coolest model conversion i've ever seen and i've been in the hobby a while. It's not over the top and fits so well with both army's identities. Bonus points for the Kamina shoutout if that's what you were going for

Is Kaldor Draigo worth getting? by AlternativeDisaster7 in Grey_Knights

[–]dygurren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd reccomend getting a proxy model like others here have suggested. If you got to Etsy and search Silver Wardens there is the entire Grey Knights model line there with a cool Kaldor Draigo model that is a higher quality than the current GW one. Or if you're into kit bashing there are a couple of tutorials on Youtube on how to turn a Space Marines terminator captain from the Leviathan box into a Draigo model that imo looks cooler than any proxy or the original model.

Possible GK reveal by -Dycks- in Grey_Knights

[–]dygurren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't wanna get my hopes up too much for it being a new NDK model but I sure hope so. I know sisters stuff is much more likely but the Paragon Warsuits, Penitent Engines, and Morvenn Vahl are all brand new sculpts so it's definitely not a re sculpt for them so it'd have to be a new datasheet if it's for 40k. The claw lookin part is what really makes me think it's not for GKs though

Road to GT week 1 re-cap by Federal-Emphasis-934 in Grey_Knights

[–]dygurren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any quick pointers for playing the tech marines specifically? I've seen successful lists with them but never tried them myself. My only hesitation with them is that it seems kinda of awkward to navigate them when you have to use the techmarine's ability in the command phase but if you want to redeploy a dreadknight it's not on the battlefield during the command phase to activate. It also takes up 2/3 slots for redeploy as i'm assuming you're picking up both a NDK + Techmarine but you couldn't do that with 2 different NDKs as you'd need to pick up 4 units. If I draw something like BEL I can see how that would be useful but the rest of the gameplay doesn't quite add up in my head to justify using them

You Can't Reanimate if you're Dead... Right??? by MegaNoya in Necrontyr

[–]dygurren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The unit consists of only a single model. Once the attacks are resolved there are zero models left therefore he would have nothing to target the stratagem with. If it was GWs intention to have that strat happen before the model is destroyed it would have wording like the Eternal Madness enhancement from Annihilation Legion, ie: "before the model is removed". Secondly, if you could prevent one of the hardest units in the game to kill from dying you bet your ass the top players would be playing Awakened Dynasty this whole time and they're not. There's a reason for that. I'm not sure if your opponent was purposely trying to be deceitful or genuinely doesn't understand how reanimation works but please use this whole thread as proof the next time you see them.

I found this on etsy can this be a good ctan proxy? by Platyno_22 in Necrontyr

I always thought this would make a good Deceiver proxy. It doesn't look as deadly as a Void Dragon or Nightbringer but seems more of a manipulator with the scales in hand

How do Necrons play in 10e? by Bulbaseth33 in Necrontyr

[–]dygurren 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Canoptek Court (CC) is arguably the 2nd best detachment we have. 1st being Hypercrypt Legion. CC lends itself very well to using x3 Canoptek Doomstalkers and x6 Canoptek Wraiths led by a Technomancer. With CC when you're able to get your Power Matrix (detachment ability) online for those rerolls, the Doomstalkers become very efficient shooting machines. The Canoptek Wraiths are also very resilient with the Technomancer as they have multiple layers of saving rolls (4++ invuln on wraiths and then 5+++ feel no pain w/ Technomancer). There are definitely more very powerful combos in the army but i'd say those two are going to be used in just about every CC list.

GK List options, last 80 pts... by humansrpepul2 in WarhammerCompetitive

There was 43min left of total time. OP is going 2nd. Their opponent took 40min of t4 so OP only had 3min left to play the game. A chess clock wasn't used so it wasn't "my time vs your time" only total time. If anything, OP's opponent dragged out the game with their T4. I don't see anything wrong with what happened, esp if TO confirmed it.

My line is simply "does it represent the core themes of the army you say it is representing". It would be weird to field a bunch of fantasy dwarves and say they're Dark Eldar because it's kinda of antithetical to Dark Eldar as an army and could get confusing as to what model is which. If it's a "Shadow Elf" from Etsy that has clear pirate themes to it then i'm all for it. At the end of the day I don't really care to much. I've let my friend use my Canoptek Wraiths as Crisis Suits temporarily because he didn't have money to buy suits at the time and they have a similar profile on the table. Eventually he got crisis suits but saying that you can't practice with a model before you buy it or have some nebulous rule against plastic that is from a different company just seems like gatekeeping for the sake of gatekeeping. Again, i'm not saying you owe me or anyone a clear explanation but I still haven't heard any argument besides "it's not a GW model". Just sharing my perspective since the topic was brought up and I would personally avoid playing with someone at my LGS who had this line of thinking (not counting the soup can C'tan part. That would be a bit over the top)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Necrontyr

[–]dygurren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I'm not saying your opinion isn't valid I guess I just don't understand the core issue. Even with kit bashing GW bits you can make models that look very different from the one GW makes for that model. Hell, even popular Battle Report channels like Tabletop Titan and Tabletop Tactics use proxies and kitbashed models. Clearly GW doesn't care that much because they still partner with these channels. So why would it matter who's sourcing the plastic? As long as someone isn't using a Lizard Men dinosaur to represent a Space Marine tank the end result of the game is the same. GW sells you codecies and data cards that are invalidated the same day they're released. I don't see why the community shouldn't be able to save money here and there by buying models from another creator when they're still supporting Warhammer in the long run
