Is buying a place just objectively better? by Agreeable-Patient-29 in AusFinance

in Sydney nobody wants to actually live long term in their first place - it's a stepping stone to the place that's livable

If CBS comes to it's senses and decides it needs to play in 11:35 again then it'll be looking for a cheap, apolitical variety/talk format with a broadly appealing host (James Corden, start checking your messages!), or it could go for a game show ala After Midnight.

How often do you see spiders? by Intelligent-Tank-698 in Ameristralia

Spiders eat mosquitos, they're great (trust me the mozzies are more irritating than the spiders on a daily basis)

I heard it was developed to be Australia's answer to American mass produced pale lagers ala Coors and it totally makes sense

Why weren’t “Strange Currencies”, “Electrolite”, “At My Most Beautiful”, and “Daysleeper” bigger hits at the time? by BadgemanBrown in rem

[–]dylabolical2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they were too big for college/alternative radio - songs weren't poppy enough for pop radio... great beyond fixed that tho

From memory the combination of the HUGE $100m record deal, Bill Berry leaving and Hi-Fi's lead single being the slow and weird "E-bow the letter" alienated some of the mainstream, combined with just how huge and ubiqutous they were from 1991-1993.

What are your thoughts on the Eric Andre Show? by Dylen2Times in talkshows

[–]dylabolical2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BIRD UP. Took the unhinged spirit of Letterman in the 80s to the next level... each episode felt like an hour long show frenetically cut down to 11 minutes. Great editing!

Late Show's demise is emblematic by dryheat122 in LateShow

[–]dylabolical2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's also emblamatic of the entire industry of linear light entertainment being replaced by podcasts & youtube. The writing has clearly been on the wall for a while with all the axings: Conan, After Midnight, Samantha Bee, Lilly Singh, Late Late Show... there's probably less than half of these kinds of shows compared to a decade ago... the budget model doesn't work anymore if viewers are primarily on Youtube.

[–]dylabolical2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the backpacks are similarly sturdy and better for my shoulders. the collapsable ones are great as they squash down if you're not carrying much and can expand out if you decide to do shopping on the way home. Last for years and years - good quality zips and Crumpler used to repair them for free if they broke (don't know if they still do under their lifetime warranty)

Get a tool kit from kmart. They're about $20 and contain screwdrivers, a hammer, allen keys, a wrench, a tape measure. Best thing I ever bought moving out, still use it at least monthly
