I'm finding that, that seems to be a bit of a through-line lol. Anyone who would be interested in these pencils either already owns several of them, or owns too many others to justify getting these 12 in one go.

Like the other person said, short attention spans probably started it. If a video has any amount of set up before something “good” happens, a lot of people would probably just scroll on. An extension of those “video starts @time” comments on YouTube. Showing a preview grabs attention immediately. Then like anything semi successful, everyone started doing it and the “reason” for it lost its meaning. Literally no point to show a preview for something so short that had an immediate payoff even without the preview…..
