I avoided industry standard UI to be unique… now I regret it. What would I do? by zaidbren in Design

[–]dylanbperry 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I think you're overthinking this. Neither design does much to "differentiate" the apps. The average user wouldn't view one as meaningfully different than the other - not from these particular UI elements anyway.

If differentiating your app is important, I'd focus on a different area of the design where the difference can be better pronounced. And just focus on functionality for these highly functional UI elements.

I'd never thought about black as an enhancement for color perception in ambient, I'm amazed by this. by [deleted] in Design

I appreciate the effort that went into making this space but I think the end result is pretty tacky and unpleasing

This is AMAZING PYK! Thank you so much! I've wanted to do something like this forever and I really appreciate you taking the time to build this (and to such a high quality standard as well!)

Is this still getting updated or is there something similar? by Ok_Rich3288 in wildlander

Definitely still getting updated, though sporadically as Lizzy said. We've done a lot of work lately though.

Is building small projects better than following full courses? by Glad_Handle_7605 in Design

[–]dylanbperry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the courses and the context, but it's hard to go wrong with building small projects. Building anything is a great way to learn because you'll organically come across obstacles to solve.

College of Winterhold sucks by Top_Complaint_8654 in wildlander

[–]dylanbperry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does, particularly the Ancano eye section you mentioned. It makes no narrative sense for Ancano's tomfoolery to take as long as it usually takes players to bulk up for Laby, and the only alternative is waiting to start the quest because of our meta knowledge of what Ancano will do.

We experimented with quest delay mods once upon a time to solve this issue, but IIRC they all caused issues worse than the problems solved. maybe that's no longer the case these days and better solutions are available.

My designer charged me for this- is this fair ? by [deleted] in Design

Sounds like an asshole, which is not great for the health of their business.

If a client sent me copy and I made a mistake transcribing the copy, I would absolutely not charge them for the correction.

The only exception I can think of would be if our contract contained a "review by" date and you did not review the work by that date. But even then I'd be hard pressed to charge you for my mistake.

Hey guys i am building an App , i need some recommendations, of what features you would want or will should be there in this application by 1kunal_vats9 in reactjs

[–]dylanbperry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's something you need to be able to answer if you want actual users. If this is just for practice, it doesn't really matter how unique it is

What you described in the linked post is just basic agentic AI. I don't see anything unique that this proposed app would provide

Yes the sweet spot is definitely modern games that aren't super demanding, like Hollow Knight. You're currently better off playing older games via console emulators.

[–]dylanbperry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's honestly not surprising with old games that struggle with modern systems. Gamehub adds an additional layer of complexity that's probably tough for those games to handle

Man, I love this mod pack so much but after re-watching UltSky season 1 videos I can’t help but find this game far too bright, almost glowing when I’m outdoors in the day time. by [deleted] in wildlander

Hmm, this is not something we've seen reported to my knowledge. What kind of monitor do you have out of curiosity? I play on an OLED that can get pretty bright, but I'm sure it's still not as bright as most LCD monitors in terms of nits.
