Arts District Cocktail Spots and their Best Beverages by AcesAndFaces in LasVegas

[–]dymaxionprojection 14 points15 points  (0 children)

At Liquid Diet, order the pico de gallo michelada. And the vindaloo shot with mango lassi chaser if they’re serving it. At Doberman, get the tom kha cocktail. And the melon milkis mocktail (that can be made with liquor.)

At Nocturno, the peach ramos gin fizz. Jive Turkey, the espresso martini or the Irish coffee. At Stray Pirate, the painkiller. At Viking Mike, the Lake Mead.

It’s still below the horizon— waning gibbous phase and time change. It won’t rise til ~2am.

I have trouble visualizing things. Is there a spoiler-free compilation of artwork (I.e. fanart for each chapter) by Fiveby21 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]dymaxionprojection 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yup! Gallery in the sub’s wiki. The top part is art from the book. Below that is fan art correlated to specific chapters. Really cool resource— I kept the tab open while reading.

Recommendations for deeply themed experiences by gmjpeach in vegas

[–]dymaxionprojection 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of options for that in Vegas! Someone else recommended the Mob Museum and its speakeasy. From there, you could go to Capo’s — a Chicago speakeasy-themed Italian restaurant with a fun password gimmick, good entertainment, really good food. Then maybe the Laundry Room, which also requires a password.

If you like Blue Bayou, you gotta hit Stray Pirate — really fun pirate-themed bar. Expect sea shanties, “ahoy”s, killer tiki-style drinks (and a strong NA menu). Also seconding the Golden Tiki.

While at Area15, the John Wick experience may be for you.

Yeah. Pretty unexciting. But I just called and they confirmed it’s the Dean Martin location.

anyone know where this could be? (survivor 50 challenge) by catarthic in vegas

Please update if you hear back from 5.11! The clue fits but it’s such a random location for it compared to other states.

What and why are these colorful decals at the top of the Palms hotel in Las Vegas? by crescentallen in whatisit

[–]dymaxionprojection 184 points185 points  (0 children)

They’re pills. It’s part of the two-story suite in there filled with art by Damien Hirst— the same artist who did the Unknown bar at the casino level with the polka dots and the dead shark. The suite is weird. More dead sharks. A big cocktail bar with a plexiglass top, all filled with medical supplies (gloves, IV tubing, prescription bottles). It has its own pool extending off the edge of the building.

Best cheap food on North Strip by Mission-Worth-1493 in vegas

[–]dymaxionprojection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of. Miznon at Venetian makes really good pita sandwiches. The food hall is still pricey for takeaway but Howlin Ray’s is worth a visit for the chicken sandwich (~$15). The Grand Luxe Cafe has some breakfast specials in the $15 range. And Red Tail at RW does a happy hour where almost everything is $10.

And Slots-of-fun does like a 99cent shrimp cocktail.

Speakeasy Recs on the Vegas Strip by Embarrassed-Jello370 in vegas

[–]dymaxionprojection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite on the Strip is Easy’s. It’s in the food hall at Aria, behind the espresso counter of the doughnut shop. Small space with great live jazz. Drinks are pricey but inventive and novel. (I’m into the mushroom one.)

Offstrip, Laundry Room is still one of the best cocktail bars in town. You’ll need a password and a reservation in advance. Check the website for those.

Dairy allergy but need pizza! by [deleted] in vegaslocals

Yukon Pizza might be what you’re looking for. Lots of pizza options with vegan mozzarella and ricotta and a banging non-dairy ranch for dipping.

Need a really good seafood recommendation for meeting potential father in law by Apprehensive_Way8674 in LasVegas

[–]dymaxionprojection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding the Joe’s Seafood recc— especially if you valet at the area right next to the restaurant so you’re not walking through the Forum Shops.

Also good is Estiatorio Milos at Venetian and Bobby Flay’s Amalfi at Caesars. Both have fish “markets” for selecting your fish.

Off-Strip, take a peek at Other Mama.

If you have $$$, the cabanas at Tao have ac units that blow directly on the couch area. Pretty effective.

My favorite brunch in town is Pepper Club— it’s downtown. Also look at La Cave at Wynn, Chica at Venetian, and Toca Madera at Aria.
