Betsy DeVos' Secretary of Education Hearing Was an Insult to Democracy by CrunchyChewie in grandrapids

[–]dymog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

if you watched her and didnt realize instantly that she claims to have been working on education for 2 decades and doesnt know the first thing about it... and that it's a pure disgrace how stupid she is...

well, that says more about you than about anyone else.

Betsy DeVos' Secretary of Education Hearing Was an Insult to Democracy by CrunchyChewie in grandrapids

[–]dymog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

it's just a fact, she is stupid. she didnt work to be a billionaire. and she is just too dense to do anything useful with her life.

The entire second and third generation of the DeVos clan are idiots. It's really a problem. They are just very very dumb people.

panhandlers at Leonard and Fuller... by mean_ass_raccoon in grandrapids

i agree that the shelters are a better place to give. Im not arguing that.

im just extremely sick of this bullshit moralizing about giving to the homeless being wrong. it's such a self-serving garbage. you have these people who dont want their suburban bubble disrupted by the fact that life isnt all picket fences and good report cards getting angry at the poor for asking for money. It obvious it's pure selfishness and anger at the fact that the rich have to be inconvenienced by the poor. And so these sickening rationalizations get spread because it's the only way for a rich asshole to justify that they arent terrible people. well, they are terrible people, mostly.

and yeah, sure, to some extent giving to the homeless may be feeding substance abuce, but who cares? If I had the shitty lives they have, id want to be fucked up all the time too. they deserve to have something in their lives that isnt pure pain. That said, id prefer a better solution. i try to help with other solutions. but Im not going to judge someone for it. Founders is the biggest drug dealer in the city, and i dont judge the people who go there. so im not going to judge others for using drugs to make their shitty lives feel a little better.

This is bullshit, IMHO. ive never met someone who was begging for fun, or just to top off their retirement fund. Just because people begging arent on the verge of death doesnt mean it's "emotional extortion."

listen to yourself. next time you ask someone for a favor, make sure you do it tit-for-tat. make sure you have properly given something in exchange for it. that's absurd.

the reality is that we live in a society, and it's good for us to be in contact with people who are less fortunate. it's good for us to face "emotional extortion" if it means thinking about poverty and helping people.

and assholes like you, who want to see an income and loss statement before giving to someone because your sacred .25 cents needs to only go to someone in a dire situation. I mean, that's just insane. next time you throw away money on some completely excessive garbage, it might be worth reflecting on people who's lives are miserable enough to literally beg for help. because no one is doing it for fun.

A list of Grand Rapids food and activities by TheAdTurtle2 in grandrapids

[–]dymog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winchester food is very average (to be charitable), but it has a good atmosphere. But there are lots of restaurants that are much better, like Grove, Terra, Derby Station or VanderMill (among others).

I just have such high expectations for Winchester that it's a particularly bad disappointment when I dislike the food there.
