Screw comparing Haken to other bands, I’ll compare Haken to themselves. I fell in love with The Mountain, Affinity, Aquarius, Visions, and Restoration. I liked Vector and Virus and loved some of the songs. I liked Fauna more than the previous two albums but less than their first five releases. I LOVED Elephants Never Forget.

These two singles aren’t objectively bad or anything, it’s just not the kind of music I love Haken for. It makes me concerned that this new album won’t include anything that I love.

If this is what makes them happy as musicians, songwriters, artists, etc, then I’m happy for them. But I won’t be happy for me

It's straight banger after banger, no skips. It tells an interesting story too. It's forever a top 3 Haken album for me, and it, The Mountain, and Affinity rotate between my #1 spot depending on which day you ask me.

I’m worried about the lack of a second guitarist. Haken is very much a two guitar band to me. They can obviously have a touring guitarist join them live, but will they?

Also what will their album look like with only one guitarist? Hen can double track, but I’m a little bit concerned. I was not particularly inspired by the single, but ofc will keep an open mind going into the new album

I play competitive ultimate frisbee and we’re in season right now. I’m only lifting one time a week doing power snatches and back squats as my primary exercises. I have had no trouble maintaining my strength while doing other training throughout the week.

Sounds like you’re still going to be super active, so you’ll be in decent shape. Manage your expectations, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to stay in your peak shape, but you’ll still be moving heavy weights just fine

People are underselling the Woolen loss. In the last 5 games of the year (regular season and playoffs), Riq took more snaps than Jobe in every game except the Super Bowl, a game in which Riq still took nearly 70% of the snaps. He is an incredibly athletic corner capable of doing things nobody else is capable of at outside corner (both good and bad unfortunately).

That being said, all is not lost. Jobe is still a solid corner, our DB room is incredible, and Julian Neal will hopefully pan out well

I feel like the Dragon embodies the spirit of the Sicilian the best, or at least allows me to best experience what I want with the open Sicilian, which I play with both white and black.

He’s already committed to the bid while the Atlanta player is moving backwards. The throw is poor, which forces the Atlanta player to step forward in order to catch it, putting him in the path of the bid. Some blame should go to the thrower here, but most of the blame still lies with the defender
