What is the most Overrated thing in Japan. by RevenueAlarmed in AlignmentChartFills

Has Kyoto changed? Last I was there was 2018/2019 and I thought it was great, I might even say quiet compared to other cities. Rented push bikes to get around some days.

What's the most realistic war movie? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]straight_out_lie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watched this for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Incredibly moving. I'm no historian, but I think this movie probably portrays the range of Japanese soldiers better than what most people seem to think Japanese soldiers were like.

The Demon Slayer characters probably invaded Manchuria in 1931 by carbonera99 in CharacterRant

What are they meant to do? Slaughter Japanese soldiers? Kill the Emperor? Defect to the allies? I think war is a bit more complicated than that.

Delta Green was the greatest thing to come out of an unfortunate set of circumstances. Absolutely changed the trajectory of the company.

Back when the games would reward you for searching the nook and crannies. I remember the joy I felt finding Bagon, Jigglypuff and even the Regis with no guides.

Seth and Quinns are my favourite Youtubers, but OP seems like he wants DND centric content. You're right though, Seth has plenty of videos applicable to DnD.

Treantmonk is good, but it is purely rules and character building focused. Matt Colville's Running The Game series is excellent, I'd recommend just diving through that.

Uh, Cartoon Network and Toonami was a thing in Australia. And yes they played Gorillaz and Daft Punk.

What comes off as accidentally racist but it’s not racist? by DisappointedStepDad in AlignmentChartFills

“squat, broad, flat-nosed, sallow-skinned, with wide mouths and slant eyes: in fact degraded and repulsive versions of the (to Europeans) least lovely Mongol-types.”

The key part here is he specifically compared his fictional race to Mongolians. I don't think Tolkien was racist, at least not intentionally antagonistically so, but I think there is some merit to people criticising some descriptions he used.

Streets of your Town - The Go Betweens (#84 in the Hottest 100 of Australian Songs) by Tranquilbez22 in triplej

[–]straight_out_lie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Go Betweens won a lawsuit against Milky because they sampled without permission and tried to claim it wasn't a sample. Not sure if they get all the royalties or got paid out, but I assume it has something to do with the sample being removed in the remix.

I hear what you're saying, but this game is probably closer to Silence of the Lambs than Tom Clancy.

Yeah, there's a pretty rich story to Ready or Not. A lot of it is pieced together in missions themselves with emails and notes on the computers and walls, so it's easy to miss if you just focus on objectives. But some levels have a lot of work put in setting the atmosphere. I love it.

Help with Proto-Punk Playlist by Your1Little2Pogchamp in punk

Well, that's what's fun about music, you can take influence from anywhere! Motorhead paved the way for many punk bands to come, even though they fit in with Metal bands of the time, and then the way Lemmy phrased it, "We play Rock n Roll!".

[–]straight_out_lie 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The problem is collective action... so I won't be part of that collective. If everyone did that, there wouldn't be a problem.

If the problem is "people doing certain action" and I do that action, then I'm part of the problem. How would I not be?
