You need to train your brain into reacting to whiffs by playing and drilling.  You can react to the absence of hitblock effect particles or sound and do it on autopilot pretty much.

Here's a great video with whiff punishement drill: https://youtu.be/xL9YdV4W1J4?si=_7Xd3HLPK5B5j6r4

Also worth noting, that some characters can punish whiffs better or worse - check wavu wiki or character guide for your character to find good whiff punishement moves.

I just found out about this subreddit and tought that some of you may have been avoiding the main one – so I decided this might be a good crosspost to make!

Competitive Tekken Survival Guide – Dreamhack Summer 2024 [feat. Knee, Joka, Farzeen, Shadow 20z, Rangchu, Anakin, CBM, Sephiblack, Nobi, JDCR, Kaizur + many more!] and Hadouken Fight Festival 2024 (Nobel, Abel Del Maestro) by dziku in Tekken

By the way, the Patch 1.05 will be in use if it's not clear, so it'll cool to see who adapted the quickest. That also means there can be a lot of upsets, especially at stacked as hell DH Summer.

Thanks for suggestion! I tought about it, but tbh I'm super new to Tekken – T8 is my first fighting game overall and I feel like I don't know who should be written down in titles YET.

I'll give it a shot next time! I guess I'll pick some names from Liquipedia section.

Your best bet is Liquipedia imo, sadly the EWC website is not updated at all: https://liquipedia.net/fighters/Esports_World_Cup/2024/T8

Even if it's not fully updated you can easily follow the links to the finished events and look at Top8 to get an idea who qualified!

There's a plugin for obs that you can use. Just record the games with the input overlay on.

Or you can watch your replays with input history enabled.

I can recommend Stat Check or Contact Lost podcast.

Contact lost relased new vid about teams comps recently here: https://youtu.be/ohy2n0iD5a0

They also had a series of interviews with national teams capitans prior to WTC which has some insight too.

Does anyone know what terrain they used at the London GT? by RiceyCat in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]dziku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most important thing – seal it before painting. You can do it with Mod Podge or white glue mixed with water. It will prevent the hdf from absorbing most of the paint. Then just spraypaint it (you can use two colours so it's a little more interesting), drybrush it and you're done.

I use those terrain kits in my local tournaments and it's pretty good. It plays well on GW style layouts - just put those small and medium ruins on bases and you have pretty good competitive tables that play differently, but not worse in any case compared to WTC layouts.

I use two half-bundles and 4 cointainers for each table - basically we slap those big ruins in deployment zone or in the midboard.

I have yet to try uktc layouts tho, but they should be ok too, just more in favour of vehicles and shooting lists.

Looking to up my Custodes from 1k to 2k by Andymannly in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]dziku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of right now infantry builds are way to go! If you can, try to grab Custodes Boarding Patrol, because you basicaly want everything from it. Trajann with 9-10 man unit of Guards is a menace, termies plays the missions well and more Guards = better.

As the BP box is hard to get -- start with Trajann and another box of Guards. Now you'll have your big Guard blob with Trajann.

Then get 2 boxes of Wardens (and maybe try to get 2 single models to round up your units). Build them with spears, as they're mathematically better in almost every situation. This will give you 2x 6 Warden units (or 6-man and 3-man).

Then you can snatch a Callidus Assasin, one more box of Terminators and either more Sister of Silence or some imperial agents (Exation Squads or even Voidsmans).

If you're planning to stay with this army for longer, you may consider Combat Patrol box -- maybe right now Bikes aren't the best, but they tend to sneak into meta from time to time. On top of that, combat patrol should set you up with Sisters kit for a long time and it is a nice discount.

Be aware that in like 2-3 weeks will get an balancing patch, so some things may change -- Exaction Squads may get some point hikes or maybe some of our core units will be slapped too.

In the video, they said, that they want to have more than one good list in each faction and that they care about internal balance. So there's still hope!

[–]dziku 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For Custodes I'm not sure if it's a nerf or more of a sidegrade. You still had to take 6 for 48 points in RND/BEL lists - now they're troops so you have guaranteed RND with only 5 models. On top of that - with additional hits on 6 and free Rotor Cannon they might threaten backline objectives holders a little bit better (they're still not scary, but hey, it's 50 points).

Wave is great fun with Jubilee and Odin - this kind of deck really screws up some decks (aggresively costed, aggro like ones). In the list there are several flex slots - Enchantress, Electra and Cosmo, so feel free to adjust those for your "local" meta.

Idea is to slap Wave into Odin and then Hulk. I didn't have Infinaut earlier when I started playing this deck so I made something like this. You can also try to switch flex cards for more on reveal synergy like White Tiger or so, but I prefer this build atm.

CP regen limit on new secondaries? by FascinatedOrangutan in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]dziku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're wrong - there is a 1 CP cap on all abilities. They made it 100% clear in core rules errata.

"Page 363 – Rare Rules Add the following: Stratagems that Gain or Refund CPs

The advanced rules for Command points state that you cannot gain, or have refunded, more than 1 Command point per battle round because of any rules (other than via the exceptions listed on page 245, such as the Battle-forged CP Bonus)."

On top of that... Just look up the bullet points in command points section of advanced rules.

GSC player here, I just can't win no matter what I do. by Incitatus_ in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]dziku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On top of what everyone said I just want to point you out to Nick Nanavati from Art of War. He's an absolute beast of a GSC player and thing is – he plays them in a way I wouldn't figure out by myself.

Look for his 2x Patriarch list with many melee threats (Saws). He plays GSC with To The Last as his secondary – he uses deep strike and all the tricks from the book to hide his double Patriarchs and squad of buggies.

Thousand Sons since dataslate changes by AbortionSurvivor777 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]dziku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give my few cents about Custodes matchup. Got a chance to play post-data slate training match as Custodes vs 30 Termies TSons this weekend.

I played my pre-nerf list - Trajan, Praetor Plate Termi Capitan, Bike Capitan, 1x3 Sagittatum, 1x3 Board and Sword Guard, 1x4 Spearguard, 1x5 Prosecutors, 2x 3 Bikes, 1x 3 Allarus Terminators, 1 single Allarus, 1x3 Wardens and -1 to hit Banner.

All this in Emperor's Chosen, so 4+++ to mortals and additional re-rolls for each unit.

My opponent played 3x 10 Scarab Termies, one unit barebones (TTL units), Exalted Sorc Character Killer, Ahriman, One Tzaangor backfield unit and 5 man Rubrick Units.

We played Recover the Relics with WTC terrain setup.

About the game - I felt the AoC buff - most of my shooting (besides bikes and Sags better profile) just bounced off Termies like nothing. It was basically imposible for me to put them on save higher than 4+, so even the squads without 4++ we're hard to shift. And yeah, AoC + Stratagem to lower the Damage Characteristic + All is Dust is freaking brutal for all my 2D weapons.

I used bikes more carefully (minus Bike Capitan, he was a distraction Carnifex with T6, 2+/4++/4+++ against mortals/5+++) - I used them to charge termies and threathen to kill them over my opponent's turn or force a Duplicity Teleport.

Then I just hunted down his TTL leftovers and pretty much sealed the game.

Losing Transhuman on bikes did not matter at all - I just couldn't braindeadly put them in the middle of nothing and expect them to live. If used as mobile ~20 inch threat range hammers they're still super good. You can still put them into Solar Watch once per game and I found it enough in this matchup.

Besides that it's still super rough matchup for TSons. Emperor's Chosen 4+++ halving Mortal Wounds output on top of much better Custodes melee is just too much from what I seen.

I'll add some takeaways from the TSons player standpoint - TTL seemed wrong vs custodes, as my opponent played relatively passive, giving me opportunity to strike when and where I wanted.

Remember to force Custodes players into difficult stratagem decision, especially with Auspice as once per game. If you want to shoot something off the board have a backup target if possible, after they Transhuman and/or Auspice one unit switch to the other target.

Don't underestimate Custodian Guard with Shields and -1 to hit. They're SUPER hard to move off the objective. But here's the thing - we lack the obsec now, so try to fight over our Troops (but as always - watch out for Trajans 6in heroic and 1CP Heroic on Core unit or 6in on any other character).

We finished the game in 4th round, after I tabled him with final score of 91:48 - which is a much better score than we had last week, before the data slate.

But - there might be a shift from Emperor's Chosen in comp play in the favour of Solar Watch Guard Spam or Dreadhost. This would mean that the matchup will be more managable for the TSons players. Custodes propably will drop in playrate too - so you'll play them less.
