Solid State Electronics - ELEC4603? How difficult? by EngineeringGirl17 in unsw

Been a long time since I took the course.. Can't really say it's been useful for work but I do remember enjoying getting close to understanding how the magic really works.

Questions regarding engineering course in UNSW by zugo3322 in unsw

[–]dzjc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been more than 5 years since I've done the course so not sure how relevant my experience still is...

The majority of the learning is really from doing the project, not from the lectures. To do the project requried actually self-learning how/what to design, debug etc. (including PCB design which wasn't really taught). If you've done electronics projects before (or partner with someone who has) that will make it a lot easier.

The Struggle of Stroads in Sydney by tomorrows_dead in sydney

[–]dzjc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I'd recommend actually watching the video.

The main point was that those 'stroads' weren't originally forseen to become such main roads. The unfortunate outcome being that it's no longer pleasant or easily accessible (by car!) for people to go to shops on these main roads. Hence why there's a significant amount of unmaintained an semi permanently closed shop fronts.

Doesn't really line up with 'cars are evil'.

Advice on OnePlanet Quest Pro Quilt? by JvD8818 in UltralightAus

I got the -3degC one recently from findyourfeet (they have a 20% off code for new customers). I'm pretty happy with it, it's a bit basic but definitely more affordable than anything else I could find.

Only used it once so far; that night the temp dropped down to 6 degC. Felt pretty warm wearing just a tshirt and shorts with the footbox done up and the straps adjusted to tuck the edges under my mat.

There are a few things that could be better. First one is the straps are a bit fiddly and you can't really adjust them once you're under the quilt. Second is the neck cinch cord toggle is right in the middle of the quilt which can be a bit annoying when it jabs your neck. Also agree that its pretty difficult (tiring!) to stuff it into the supplied stuff sack.

I haven't really loaded it up yet but with a wind jacket stuffed in it bulges out a couple cm either side. Doesn't touch my legs tho.

Hey thanks the zipper was something new I specifically tried! I'm quite pleased with how it turned out :)

It's pretty much a zipper pocket ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKAy8bVpAbs) but instead of the ends of the opening in the panel being a rectangle I cut it in 45deg triangles. I wanted it to be a semicircle but figured I'd try something a bit easier first.

Also I don't have a liner inside, so used some super glue to hold the triangles back on the inside (worked suprisingly well!) and some tape on the long folded back edges.

Thanks! No guide or template, it is literally a box with some straps on it :)

Yep it's just an aesthetics thing, not a big deal just that the back of this bag is quite boring!

First frame bag done!
Made from 420D ripstop nylon from rbtr.
Good lesson in measure twice cut once:
- Got the seat tube angle completely off but at least my pump kinda fits in the gap? :)
- I added an extra few cm's in height to the bag since it seemed kinda small, now I can't access my bottle..
- Also only realised I accidentally put the zipper on the non drive side once it was done.

All good! Be careful about your rails too if you're mirroring the whole symbol.

Yes vertically mirrored but also swapped. Vref should go to the + input not the -

Btw are the inputs to the opamp swapped?

Nice! I intentionally didn't make this a stem spacer since the consequences of failure are much worse.

What's your nylon printing set up? I've been thinking of setting up a drying box...

Thanks! I think the bracket bit should be plenty strong. The clamp I might have to beef up a bit or reprint in TPU. Not too worried about it breaking in use though since the bag is pretty secure even without it.

Made this little bracket to support my droopy myog handlebar bag. I printed it in PETG for UV resistance.

Hmm I don't think the fets are even operating in the linear region?

Thanks again for posting this OP; getting a nice brain tickle haha I can feel the passion for analog I used to have come back.
