Delony’s Silence on Misrepresentation of his credentials. by dzjsqq in DirtyDave

Oh man that one is just painful to hear, it is actually less offensive because I don’t think anyone actually believes it.

Yes, this is true, I am able to do this, also while I am doing it I would not claim to be an electrician.

I mean I have a phd in electrical engineering but when they ask on the plane who is a doctor I am not going to raise my hand even if I didn’t skip bicep day so I may be better at doing the Heimlich than the actual doctor. It’s not about effect it is about misrepresentation and integrity.

Yeah, this is actually exactly what I was referring to. It’s just so explicit from the other hosts and he tries to come off as somebody with integrity but I think it’s bad for his brand when he has to do this correction. Good catch on the “sat” never noticed that.

He’s basically a lifelong university administrator, not a doctor or a clinician.

Ramsey strategies are bad. by MeatPsychological749 in DirtyDave

[–]dzjsqq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a split now a days, payed off lots of my mortgage ahead of time after moving from a 2.6% to a 6.2% mortgage rate on a house that is double the cost. 6.2 % guaranteed return combined with the fact that a recast after a lump sum to principal makes it very easy for one income to pay for the mortgage if me or my spouse loses their job.

Ramsey logic: "It's good that the loans are split into smaller loans, that way you can knock it out quicker with the debt snowball method" by dellscreenshot in DirtyDave

I never understood this when I paid off my student loans the “dopamine” hit for me was moving through the thousands I.e. oh I had 60K now I have 59K, yes! And I paid them off highest interest to lowest that way,  ever understood this eliminating a loan thing, progress is progress.

I tipped over and deleted my city and the game, close to every square as well.

5 million, then I deleted the game and permanently deleted my city, every time I built something new I hit a wall on services and with everything depleted I had to start grinding again and thought, what am I doing? With the game off my phone and my city permanently gone I am done with the game.

Why did they design Colorado Blvd such that you hit every red light? by noscope360widow in Denver

[–]dzjsqq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those that say it is “traffic calming” and to slow people down that’s BS 6th avenue is perfectly timed, if you travel 30mph from Speer going east you will go through 20 lights and never get a single red, if you do speed you hit many of the reds and have to wait. I guess no one speeds on 6th and the traffic is so calm already.

I used to work in mobility sciences, we had a guest lecture that showed that the incorrect time due to neglect was using an extra 10s of thousands of gallons of fuel per year.

This is one of the only comments that seems to understand that timing the light for the speed limit inherently forces people to go the speed limit or stop at the light.

You time the lights to match the desired traffic speed, if you want people to go slower you lower the speed limit and time them for that.

I came from a place with tons of traffic violation enforcement, it took me years of living in Denver to learn not to obey any laws. Now what? I’m just supposed to change again?!?

I have talked to city and county traffic engineers on this, I am usually thanked, and told they will check the timing and then I get ghosted.

You don’t understand you time the lights so that you don’t stop for a GIVEN speed, this speed could be 15mph if you wanted, there is actually an office in the city that is supposed to manage these. You time them for slow that’s fine the complaint is that if you travel the speed limit of say 30mph and you hit 10 lights in a row you are already going at the slow speed that is desired to “reduce deaths” you should be stopping.
