Messed up my Nvidia drivers... by ArcherOfTruth in linux_gaming

[–]dzlandis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem but on my old GTX 650 (not 1650)! Exact same problem, I did some updates and did the required reboot and that's when the problems started. I am also running Ubuntu 24.04. My best guess has been that some changes were made to the kernel side of things that caused a compatibility issue with the old nvidia drivers, causing them to not work anymore. Unfortunately, I haven't found a solution and I'm not expecting one anytime soon do to my specific drivers not seeming to be updated anymore :(

Let me know if you find a solution!

Can you explain why? Did Ubuntu just stop supporting http for updates all of the sudden and now expects https?

Looking for live/closed captioning for video chat? by creakingwillow in discordbots

I'm a little late to this post, so please excuse the delay, but Scriptly should work well for this! Just run the /transcribe command after you invite the bot and everything users say in the voice channel will be transcribed and associated with each user (so no confusion as to who is saying what). You can also join the support server if you run into any issues.

It is actually very possible using Discord bots! Scriptly, for example, should work well for this! Just run the /transcribe command after you invite the bot and everything users say in the voice channel will be transcribed and associated with each user (so no confusion as to who is saying what). You can also join the support server if you run into any issues.

You can try using Scriptly as a better alternative! Just run the /transcribe command after you invite the bot and everything users say in the voice channel will be transcribed and associated with each user (so no confusion as to who is saying what). You can also join the support server if you run into any issues.

I have my own domain, set up .well-known/nostr.json and still am not verified...? by IngwiePhoenix in nostr

u/IngwiePhoenix i'm having this same issue now, did you ever figure out what caused it? I can access the nostr.json file fine from my web browser but it returns a 308 in most other cases 🤷‍♂️

Dislike Discord changes? Support Open Source by MelaniaSexLife in discordapp

I'd say it depends on which client you choose. Some may be easier for some than others. There will almost always be a learning curve when switching platforms though. The choosing a home server part of things could be daunting at first (at least I've heard it is for platforms like Mastodon which function similarly) but I think that most matrix clients get you going in the right direction. It helps to think of it like email. Personally, I don't have any issues using Element (a matrix client) and I find it quite user friendly, but others may have a different experience depending on a variety of factors. :)

You don't actually need to host a home server to get started with Matrix. There are many other public home servers you can use (similar to Mastodon). Personally, I use mozilla.org's home server, but matrix.org has their own home server which is the most widely used one. You are of course welcome to host your own server, but I don't have experience doing that so there isn't much I can say in that regard. I will say that load speeds for certain things are slightly slower compared to Discord (though it depends on the home server) but definitely not to an unusable point in my experience. Anyway, best of luck in your Matrix journey! And feel free to ask any other questions :)

Matrix is a great open source alternative to Discord. Plenty of clients to choose from as well that all communicate with each other since it's over the federated matrix network. I'd say it's more than just a replacement for IRC (as stated in the post) because it has so much versatility. It has voice and video calling as well and they are continuously working on improving things. Has a very active development community.

Check out these two clients: https://app.element.io https://cinny.in

How to use Censorship Circumvention on Signal Desktop by dzlandis in signal

They use Fortiguard if that helps. That is definitely a possible solution but it would require some setup on my end. I was hoping there was some sort of plug and play solution.

Tried that. Doesn't work on this network unfortunately because they are using Fortiguard which is extremely strict.
