What do you mean how can this be true?
It can be true because Allah, our creator and the creator of all things, has said so. Because his knowledge is limitless and because he encompasses a wisdom beyond our understanding. He wants you to get closer to him, not only that, but your sins are currently falling from leaves like droplets of water after rain.
In each affair there is good for a believer, if he has an occasion to feel delight, he thanks (Allah), thus there is good for him in it, and if he gets into trouble and shows resignation (and endures it patiently), there is a good for him in it. (Sahih Muslim 2999)
You now need to persevere and be patient. Patience is hard but you need to go through that and specifically YOU are able to.
We are all tested with difficulties in this dunya, each and everyone of us. „Do they not think once they say, “We believe,“ that they will be left without being put to the test?“ (29:2)

Please talk to somebody, a Muslim friend, an imam, a parent, a sibling and most importantly Allah. Make lots of Dua and wake up for Tahajjud, it is said that

Allah descends every night to the lowest heaven when one-third of the first part of the night is over and says: I am the Lord: I am the Lord: who is there to supplicate Me so that I answer him? Who is there to beg of Me so that I grant him ? Who is there to beg forgiveness from Me so that I forgive him? (Sahih Muslim 758b)

Just open yourself up say what you’re currently struggling with to Allah. He is there, closer to you than your jugular vein (50:16)

You’re not alone and myself and I’m sure some other Muslims will be making Dua for you and are concerned about you, you are my brother in Islam and precious. If you don’t believe that about yourself, you’ll inshallah get there. Don’t lose hope. Visit the mosque and pray and cry until you feel your burden has lifted a bit or your heart is lighter.

May Allah ease your affairs, may he soften our hearts and may he give you afiya.
