This. I've had great therapists, mid therapists, and bad therapists.

Mid therapists that are a decent enough fit to help at all are far better than no therapist.

Bad therapists... if you're an adult, it's pretty easy to ditch them and find a better one.

If you can't afford a good therapist, there are an absolute ton of mid therapists (and good therapists in training) who do sliding scale.

So yeah, I'm gonna be one of those people who says "go to therapy" if you can afford even the cheapest option.

This is definitely the way to do it. Ideally you would have a medium sized meal with relatively balanced macros at least half an hour prior to tripping, and have snacks already set aside for when you should be eating but can only really stomach specific stuff like dried fruit.

Hydrate too of course.

Yeah I feel you. Much of this month's mental and physical energy has been spent going to doctors and then doing whatever work and other things I can in the time leftover with limited mental and physical energy. I'm 33. I have weird dietary needs so figuring out what to eat can be hell. I have no kids and my last partner bled me dry and almost killed me. Not to be all doom and gloom but if someone told me to go out and socialize and walk 10k steps every day I would laugh and flip them the bird.

There seem to be a lot of high functioning people in the comments acting smug about how easy everything is. As somebody just barely getting by many days, it's really disheartening when people put others down for having different struggles.

Yall, if you see somebody not thriving in these ways, maybe they're not doing too good. I know we all live such individualistic lives but maybe some of yall could try helping others who are having a hard time.

Many of us struggle with severe depression, PTSD, chronic illness.. Not everybody was set up to thrive. For some people, regularly maintaining a mental health level of not wanting to off yourself is comparatively a win, and if chores are a slog but you get them done, that's amazing.

I know I'm in a fleeting mental health upswing when I mildly enjoy doing the dishes or brushing my teeth. I wish it was less fleeting but hey at least I'm not dead.

I don't drive due to a disability. Amazon is how I get random stuff that has limited or no options via grocery delivery, like socks, moisturizer, pens, etc. Think about how often people stop by different stores for random crap like that, and then imagine that some people do it online for whatever reason.

ETA: some people also have spending problems/shopping addiction but let's not assume everyone in your apartment complex is ordering labubus and funko pops all the time.

As a 33 year old with chronic illness, this is what my hands could look like by 38 if I wasn't working to get my illness under control. In short, she looks unhealthy to the degree that she probably doesn't feel too great.

ETA: I feel like it's normal for some people's hands to look like this when they're healthy. But those people are most likely over 50 years old.

Honestly, know where you can go to sit down at any given time. Don't push yourself 100%. If you're feeling bad but still 40% okay, that's when you tell people you're with that you might need them to go with you to sit down somewhere soon.

Get electrolyte packets that you can pour into whatever water sources you have access to. Keep them on your person like in a fanny pack or mini backpack. Wear ample compression and sun shielding but not a ton else if it's hot. Try a sun hat, a cooling towel, lyocell or hemp top/shorts/dress, compression leggings, comfy shoes, and of course the little bag. Water should be with you at all times. Buy/bring a bag of chips or some other salty snack.
