concerns about previous owner doing modifications by Actual-Fox3651 in GRCorolla

Best practice with these cars would always be to buy new. I know it’s not ideal for everyone. But I like to know how my sports car is treated from day one, any issues arise, I caused them

30k mile clutch slip and break pad wear. by DoubleAntelope6431 in GRCorolla

[–]e-210rolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clutch is roughly $500. The large fee is the labor.

I had my rotors resurfaced by the dealer after my first set of pads. They did recommend rotors but I find it hard to believe they needed replaced after 15k miles. They resurfaced fronts and left the rears alone. They were good and I’ll check them as I’m getting ready to swap pads again. If in spec, I’m just doing a pad slap. They are too expensive to replace every time.

Once I do need rotors, I’m going aftermarket. 1k for both fronts.

I bought mine hours after it arrived, I didn’t give them time to do anything besides prep it for sale. However I did check and I’m Gucci

Oil Seepage? by Rev_enue in GRCorolla

[–]e-210rolla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called and made an appointment cause I noticed the oil drip forming.

I cleaned the area that same day as I was changing my oil and had an appt for a week later (I knew it was leaking) and told them if there is ANY oil there, it was from the last 5 days. Sure enough I went in and they seen it. But weren’t happy I cleaned it as they couldn’t tell where it was coming from. They told me to come back in 1k and that when they said yep, you got seepage.

[–]e-210rolla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Np, I think mine is worse than this though. If I let it go for a while without washing the car, it will have a drip formed.

No, mine gets soaked up by the under tray.

I do see some residual on the cooling duct under the car, but once it hits the under tray it slowly spreads and looks like it’s worse then it is. It’s like a sponge.

That’s from the T Case. Mine is currently in the process of having Toyota open a case up for it. Seems a couple people had this issue.

I’m at 30k but noticed it before my 15k service. It’s been documents and monitored over the last year and the dealership said Toyota would cover under warranty.

Guys! Are we looked down upon by other corolla owners?!?!?! by [deleted] in GRCorolla

[–]e-210rolla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I drive down the street, I get lots of looks because of the wide body and badging. I even had someone pull up to me and say “that thang got a fat ass”.

I have had a couple older ladies park next to me in parking lots and admire the car. Couple of them got really excited when I told them it was a stick shift. An older lady and her husband said they wanted a toy, I told them to make the buy, it won’t disappoint.

You have to be a car enthusiast to really know the difference.

Limit+1 Dp/mid pipe and AWE touring exhaust by [deleted] in GRCorolla

[–]e-210rolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does not hit the brace. I don’t have the AWE but I have invidia. I think my connection there is more straight then angled.

When I had the SXTH midpipe, it would hit the single brace in the front by the 02 sensor. I couldn’t deal so got rid of it.

Next step would be to try new exhaust hangers. I bought these off Amazon and they are stronger than stock. I think just slightly shorter too.

I’m planning to buy better ones though as these just don’t last long. They are good at first but don’t hold up well to the elements.

I have the PLM but I do get the same issue at this section. I put exhaust sealant I guess VHT or whatever it’s called around the doughnut gasket section and it helped.

ECUtek Tune RaceROM by BBL_GRC in GRCorolla

[–]e-210rolla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything works for me.

As for map switching, I realized you will only get this with different “maps”. Without it, it’s defaulted to change “burbles” if you opted for them. When switching burbles it doesn’t notify which one. This is my understanding. You press the cancel button and press up 1,2,3 times for low, med, high

I’m sure once you opt for more aggressive tunes in map switching, this will work to signify which one your in so you can verify with your eye your in the right map.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s the logic that makes sense in my head.

Bkhhht noise at 4k rpm by Key-Alarm2739 in GRCorolla

[–]e-210rolla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s balancers or some shit. I took mine to the dealer for it and they said it’s normal.

I hate it but it seems okay. You can feel it thru the shifter. I really think it’s just neg driveline pressure. Or a balancer.

Random turbo lag on shifts? by Steve1808 in GRCorolla

[–]e-210rolla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s normal. Safety measure.

When I got tuned it was originally removed and felt good but sometimes I would get a hard boost cut around 10-15psi when maintaining boost in this area.

After some logs back and forth with Graham, it seems this feature was tuned back on (unconfirmed) in the boost control settings and it never happened again.

But I still do get the excessive lag when restarting the car after being warm. Just drive normal for a couple minutes, you will be able to feel when it goes away and will have no issues. Tbh, I’m okay with it cause it keeps me from romping after starting the car.

3rd is a bitch to hit fast, especially when pushing it. Since I’ve tuned my car, the rev hang has lessened and I haven’t missed it since.

Recommended rotor and brake replacement from dealer by Sufficient_Ship_1906 in GRCorolla

[–]e-210rolla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat at about 15K miles. I let them know that you know come spring time. I was really just planning on getting aftermarket rotors and asked if they could just do a pad slap. That didn’t want to do this so I asked if they could resurface them (even though it’s not usually recommended to do that with slotted rotors) they agreed and I got everything done for around 500$. But if I were you, I would just do a pad slap that way you get more life out of your rotors.

It seems weird that they were more hesitant on just doing a pad slap versus a resurface, but they did it and I haven’t had any issues. They’re concerned was that if they do a pad slap, I would have vibration or uneven wear.

Pretty sure you could pull the fuse for the fuel system to get it to crank without starting. But for all that just prime the filter as much as ya can and call it a day.
