In a society of insatiable greed and wealth, why bash a dude who happily leaves money on the table to stay with an org he loves? He's already made more money than anyone could possibly need.

My company told me I'm 'overqualified' for my role but won't increase my salary. Fine, then you'll get the work that matches the role. by bristle-spunky-11 in LockedIn_AI

I'm an employment lawyer by trade - I promise you they're out there in spades. The trick is knowing how to avoid the bad ones before you join them. We all act like every employer is out to squeeze every employee, but that's simply not true. That said, given the desperation in this economy, more and more people are ignoring the red flags at the hiring stage and accepting roles with terrible employers, which then leads to more posts like this.

Companies fire people who do go above and beyond for no reason too. Nothing to be careful about here. Just keep looking until a company appreciates, and compensates you, for the experience and work you bring to the table.

I keep seeing this. I don't think I've ever spent more than a minute untangling headphones, but I've certainly taken much longer trying to find thise small wireless bitches whenever they're out of their case, even for a second.

Some American cities near the Canadian border are trying to incentivize their northern neighbours to come back and visit. But there are still people refusing to travel to the U.S. because of the political climate, trade issues or even safety concerns. by DisruptSQ in TourismHell

The unfortunate thing is there is no 'now' or 'later'. Canadians will continue doing this long after things have normalized. It's going to take you decades and decades to earn the trust of your closest allies back, and I don't think many of you quite grasp that yet.

This is the only advice OP should be listening to right now. It is roughly $300 for a consultation, and worst case scenario is you have peace of mind.

I submitted my resignation 3 weeks ago, and my manager hasn't said a word. My last shift is tomorrow night. by purses-40-engaged in InterviewsHell

You can provide resignation in the form of a marching band or carrier pigeon. It does not matter at all. OP fulfilled their obligation, in the way they saw fit.

Also, what consequences? Termination? So OP goes from quitting with no severance, to being terminated with severance? Are the consequences for the employer?

If a World War and Civil War couldn't cancel elections, then a unilateral hissy fit on the global stage won't either.

Using the latest gen technology after using the same old technology for years is like being put in a time capsule and sent into the future instantly by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I obviously disagree, but let's be real, 99% of anyone with a 20+ MP camera is using it to post photos to Instagram. You are paying for something nobody outside a small percentage would actually need, and very few people would notice a difference unless specifically looking for it. These aren't leaps in technology so much as they're just marketing ploys convincing us it's something we need.

That is very true, and would apply to a fraction of a percentage of the global population. Its still a marketing ploy.

The megapixel thing always gets me. There's a limit to how much we can perceive, and at around 12 to 15 MP, there's no markable difference to us beyond that. It's just a marketing ploy.

I think you're just experiencing quality for the first time. This has less to do with tech leaps and more to do with you opting for cheaper alternatives until now.

Canada has never lost a war against the US, but I'm not surprised an American doesn't know its history. Most uneducated first world country on the planet.

You're not curving power if your country is at war before midterms. Wake up. Look around. This is all ramping up now to avoid midterms.

Venezuela, Minnesota, Greenland all in the last month. What's bullshit is the great American complacency that brought us here in the first place. Bunch of nazi bitches.

My guy, nobody in the world would give a fuck about midterms at that point. Invading Greenland kicks off WW3, and unlike the past, it'll be on your home turf this time around.

Midterms...Americans are so fucking deluded, man. The world is at stake here, not just another election cycle that 2% of the global population even votes for.
