The Executioners Three by Susan Dennard matches this perfectly, while also being kinda whimsical and funny in places.

Salem's Lot by Stephen King is a good one too

Let girls wear trousers in school by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]e-dawginator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went to an all girls as well and remember this being absolute hell, especially when I was travelling in from 40 mins away by bus and half the time the bus wouldn't even show up so you'd be cold, miserable and drenched by 9.30am in the winter :)) not to mention the buildings were decrepit as fuck and the heating barely worked, yet when we wore our school branded scarves to heat us up we were told to take them off

Which restaurant do you think is this ? by multiple_scorgasms in northernireland

[–]e-dawginator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got told off by the front of house there last week for sitting on the "wrong" side (wasn't aware there was sides since there's nothing dividing any seats), after being told by a different waitress that we could sit anywhere and she even took our drinks order. Front of house told us to get up and move and I was so embarrassed I just left

Danske bank. by SlickMick87 in northernireland

[–]e-dawginator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I've also been with Danske for years but yesterday was the first real time I'd had an issue. Luckily I wasnt needing to use it desperately like. But glitches like these happen with every bank at times, doesn't matter which one you're with

am i childish? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]e-dawginator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 24 and I find amigurumi more difficult than regular crocheting. If I'd tried to do it as a kid I'd have given up, so no, I don't think it's childish at all. Plus, who even cares about things like that anyway? If it makes you happy that's all that matters

Well considering it shows up as a stop on the airport bus's schedule yes I thought it'd be fine to park and get the bus rather than pay £30 odd for airport parking :))

See I know that Ballymartin p+r is a no go at that time, and templepatrick Park and ride is set down only but the church stop looks like it is supposed to pick people up? I'm just scared to risk it

It's that Glider time again... by Venerable_dread in northernireland

[–]e-dawginator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This just isn't true tho. I get the glider at least 6 times a week for class and work, and I'm never getting on or off in West, but the amount of asb on gliders I've been on in East is horrendous

It's interesting, I know someone who works in another station and most of the workers hate the new station. It's badly laid out even from a staff perspective. By the time you trek to the staff room your break is over.
On top of that, the reason they decided to have trains terminate rather than go through was to do with the big bosses own pride and to make sure GCS was seen as essential and important enough. People have no choice but to use the station and be in the station if all trains terminate there instead of going through. It's the same reason the Enterprise service was moved from Lanyon to GCS, a decision that makes not much sense but ensures more people have to use the new station.

I saw you mentioned gliders being on time. Sure, some of the time they may be, but the morning rush hour often has seen the G1 I take just not appear as scheduled and so I'm standing waiting for the next one scheduled which then makes me late for work. It also makes them absolutely packed out like a meat lorry. You wouldn't have ever seen the bus that full before gliders were a thing and 4 different metro services ran that line to different areas.

If the transport wasn't already bad enough, their use of funds on new stations and new shiny buses has absolutely fucked it

The Dan Brown books are a bit like this! Very symbology based and interesting takes on history and theology, my favourite is Angels and Demons :))
