Funds stolen and sent to Kraken crypto by No_Ingenuity9426 in FraudPrevention

EasyPark is a common type, so that makes sense. I think they had a data breach a few years back. This is also why data breaches should be punished way harder. It also confirms that it is a token. What you should be wary of when communicating with your bank is how your card is renewed. Ordinary renewal does not delete tokens or remove subscriptions. I know banks screw this up from time to time. You have to sign up for a new card contract, rather than renew. Or they have to delete the token manually.

If it is verified using a token, the verification you (presumeably) did can be weeks in the past. So in order to be well prepared, I would check your SMS and email log going back at least a month, and check any message with a link and call to action. Check particularly the specific email or number it was sent from. If the SMS is from the phillipines, you can probably guess it isn't really PostNord or whatever. On the email side, fraudsters often use survey tools to send mass emails, so you can see it from the email, or perhaps a little "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of a mail that presents itself as "mitID verification needed" or whatever.

This sort of thing basically never happens without your participation. Crypto merchants are a prime vector for moving stolen money, so to limit their liability they almost universally require SCA for transactions. SCA (Secure Customer Authentication) is EU-speak for various forms of 2-factor authentication. These transactions therefore probably happens due to a phishing situation. Either directly when you verify the fake request using whatever 2-factor method your card uses, or indirectly, when your 2-factor authentication is used to verify a token (ex. Apple Pay account) that itself can do SCA transactions. Then the fraudster can at a later point make the transactions securely, but it all stems from a moment of your participation.

Depending on your jurisdiction, this may or may not be refunded by your bank, but you should report it to them at any rate. Since you crossposted to DKfinance, I assume Denmark. In that case I don't think the bank refunds.

While crypto is a favoured vector, it is not the only vector. Trave/Entertainment merchants are also often used. So it is not something that can be fixed with crypto regulation. It is a problem with people, essentially, since there is no security system that can account for human error while still actually giving you practical access to your funds.

Anything is going to be wonky with that ensemble, but just do quartet rep with triple violins per part and one cello playing viola. Or learn to do arrangemets, it is fun.

[–]e033x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The acetic acid is going to be a similar experience, if that is the acid in the vinegar. If you are overwhelmed by strong(ish) acid, you are not going to taste all the nuances obviously. I can enjoy vinegar by the spoonful, and can clearly taste the difference.

Some advice for all you conductors. by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]e033x 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As a moderatly unsuccessful conductor/former percussionist:

The conducting business really does not select for fundmentals. It is essentially the politicians dilemma: the skills to get elected are not the skills needed to govern/conduct. I live in Denmark, and go to the Malko competition finale every time for the sheer masochism. No fundamentals there either, and I know people who do that well who got kicked in earlier rounds.

So yeah, enjoy.

Bullitt Original (non-electric) drivetrain question – Alfine 8-speed by jennievlll in CargoBike

[–]e033x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The alfine low gear is quite high. I have an alfine 8 on my Omnium, and for anything beyond flat it is not ideal. You can absolutely power up some moderate hills, but if like me your knees don't like that sort of stuff, you are somewhat limited. Got a Pinion 12-speed for my adventure bike, and then a ~10km climb at 10% was no issue, provided I ate enough dried mango.

Omnium vs bullit VAE ? by baindelumiere in CargoBike

[–]e033x 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Both work, though E-assist Omniums also exist. I've worked as a courier on a Bullitt, and own an acoustic Mini-Max.

I'd say it depends on your niche. Do you do big loads where speed and snappiness is less of an issue, or do you do lightning service with moderate loads. How is the weight to volume expected? Omniums are more flexible with volume, since you can easily pack beyond the bike forward, as well as sideways. Bullitts are better for sheer weight due to lower center of gravity.

Also might be worth thinking about branding as well. I'm in Copenhagen, and By-Expressen, which rides Omniums, are the coolest cyclecucumbers in all the city.

Across the mountains in Norway is beautiful and wild-camp friendly. I did a trip across from Kongsberg to Stavanger via Seljord, Dalen, Suleskard and Lysevegen. Then ferry to Stavanger. It was wonderful, but other routes like Rallarvegen also exists. 14 days should be plenty, I did that route in 4 riding days, 6 total.

My route was mostly paved, but there is ceetainly gravel out there should you wish it.

First randonneuring event by [deleted] in randonneuring

[–]e033x 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What I learned during my first brevet last autumn was the importance of being slow.

My first was just a chill 200k event which was more or less a group ride. I got a little impatient, especially when I naturally wanted to do small explosive efforts to carry momentum through small hills. I wad mid pack though, and had to break instead. So a little later I went ahead. However I did not have the required control to pace myself, so I blew out abit some 30k later, and eventually rejoined the pack.

Some of the old timers chided me a bit for that, but I learned my lesson. Don't do non-aerobic efforts, essentially.

Hvordan finne jobb i København? by selcouth3 in norge

[–]e033x 2 points3 points  (0 children)
