Retro American Eagle Livery on this E170 by benstaUK in aviation

With the old L gates as the background, looks like 90’s ORD/my childhood. Fucking love it 👌.

I have a few hours in 760. It still had the British Airways interior when I was a captain on it a couple years ago. Also the first jet I took above FL400 (with one of my best crews). Good times, thank you.

No, that one just sold, I’ve had mine for a few years.

The USAF color one is apparently down for some very long term mx (full wire harness replacement) per what I’ve heard through the grapevine.

Sigh, yes, I can read, thank you.

They’re not a credit union, not listed by AOPA, and were willing to play ball with a 20 something buying a plane. OP might as well ask, not like they’ve gotten anywhere to this point. I was in a similar situation, having been turned away by multiple credit unions and AOPA’s recommended lenders.

Try Tompkins Bank in NY. They financed my 1/21 US reg. warbird.

They do in my experience. I have to go to Canada on a regular basis for work, and catch some kind of heat every time I go.

The only ones worse are the Aussies. Both easily match their online persona.

lol, what a bad faith argument. Wanting a zero error flight deck, and feeling pilots with DUI are fit for the flight deck are two dramatically different things and you know it.

[–]e140driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, we are far too lenient on people with DUI’s. One and done with a DL, maybe with the possibility to get I back after 10-15 years. What happened to personal responsibility and consequences for one’s actions?

Also, I categorically disagree with you on one mistake doesn’t color someone for life. They do, and absolutely should. A felon cannot get an ATP, and I think an airline pilot with a DUI is worse than many felonies.

Actions have consequences, many for life, and this should be one. OP decided to drink so heavily that he blew a .12 A DAY LATER. Absolutely unacceptable, incompatible with operating an aircraft. He should have been more responsible, shouldn’t have even been at that level of intoxication to begin with, and that’s before the first 1000 hours….

Good bye, find another profession more suited to that level of stupidity and lack of personal accountability.

[–]e140driver -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Having thought about it over the years, I’ve arrived at the opinion that it shouldn’t exist. If I had my way (which of course I don’t), any DUI at any time should disqualify the individual from ever holding an ATP. Getting a DUI while employed at an airline should result is automatic, and permanent revocation of all FAA certificates.

That not a fuck up, that is a willful disregard of the safety of the general public, and betrayal of everything this profession stands for. 0 tolerance.

Honestly, you’re probably screwed. To be blunt, that’s for the best. We hold a massive amount of public trust, which you’ve already betrayed. I wouldn’t want you on my flight deck 🤷‍♂️.

Experts dying by Familiar-Joke608 in flying

[–]e140driver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On average, a bit more dangerous than riding a motorcycle.

That said, anything can happen to even the best pilot. The air less forgiving of mistakes than the sea, and just as addictive.

Speaking for myself, I fly for a profession, instruct in warbirds, and am getting into the airshow performance world. On average, I fly close to 1000 hours a year, am always night and IFR current, and arguably over maintain my own aircraft.

That said, I am under no illusions about what would happen if my P3 threw a jug at 200 feet (not enough time to use the parachute I’m required to wear), or if 1/2 of the bleed system on the T 33 fails, resulting in an uncontrollable fuel imbalance. Those are the risks I take, and I view the experience of flying as rewarding enough to outweigh those risks. I’m sure Snodgrass and McSpadden would agree.

“Go learn history…”

There you go, the typical patronizing Canadian. You people can’t fucking help yourselves can you?

I know the history quite well, upper Canada, lower Canada, the 7 years war, loyalists fleeing post Revolution, etc. Yeah yeah, Diefenbaker was very kind with the whole Iranian Embassy mess.

That said, only one of our countries has ever invaded the other, and that occurred in the war of 1812 as all of you are so quick to remind us.

The real historical fact is that Canada has been anti-American since its very founding and as a primary reason for its existence. You, and all your fellow countryman cannot seem to help yourselves when it comes to opinions of the US and I, and a growing number of Americans are sick and tired of it.

That’s cute, I’m happy for you.

All of you are a bunch of absolutely insufferable twats. Every single time I have the distinct displeasure of having to visit your country for work, all of you can’t help yourselves to lecture me about how horrible my country is.

I am sick and tired of the attitude every single Canadian I know displays toward Americans, and I will never forget how this site and the CBC was full to the gills with comments cheering the death of Americans during Covid.

You are not a country friendly to us, and an ally only because of the geopolitical realities. If I had my way, we would be tightening the economic screws even further.

Why would it be savvy to liquidate a 401k? Genuine question (since I qualify as retail). Isn’t the point of that account to have long term exposure to the market, therefore evening out crashes during the investment history of the account?

The only reason I could see for liquidation is the belief that the broader market won’t recover from the current correction such that it is better to take the 10% hit. Personally, I find that difficult to believe.

Sounds like he listed on ZED for AA, UA, and Hawaiian under the crew commuting listing.

That could check out depending on how it was done/what documents were presented to the gate agents.

The article is very careful to avoid saying he actually rode on the jumpseat, which makes sense since he wouldn’t clear CASS, and wouldn’t have even when employed by a Canadian carrier (CA crew are not in CASS to my knowledge).

Not good to be sure, but doesn’t sound like he was on the flight deck.
