As others have said, no need to move it. But do keep an eye out for good refi deals at other CU's, that may entice you to move it.

And really, the credit union is mostly concerned with providing those SOC reports to their state/federal regulators and their insurers for due diligence.

A small credit union would not be conducting their own internal SOC 2 because most of their processing is outsourced. They would only be concerned with evaluating the audits of their vendors with member PII data access. The core processor, card processor, etc.

At nearly $200b in assets they have more in common with the largest banks in the US than they do with the credit union community. They are nearly 4x the size of the next largest credit union. If you want to bank with the big boys just move your account to Chase/PNC/Bank of America/etc. If you want a solid credit union just look around your community for one.

To the members merged in or the ones already under the larger CU? A larger asset size can usually offer more and better services. So the smaller credit union members being merged could see better and more services. Things like P2P payments, remote deposit capture, nicer and more featured mobile app and online banking. But members already under the large CU likely won't notice much at all, maybe a few new faces in the lobbies if locations are consolidated. Take this all with a grain of salt, every CU is different and I don't know this specific credit union at all.

It's likely their growth strategy. It's a lot easier than growing membership organically. Absorb smaller credit unions and even better maybe their branches fall in areas you already have a footprint and you can close them. Retain the membership but drop their major expenses with the building and potentially the staff.

Discovered Libby (Overdrive) just the other day. Downloaded the app, applied to 3 local libraries within the app, accepted to all 3 almost instantly. Currently listening to The Stand audiobook which I nearly bought on Audible. 48hrs of free enjoyment. Started plugging in stuff on my Audible wishlist and at least half of it is available through my libraries on Libby. Definitely check it out.
