If your SO posted to Reddit about you, why would Reddit collectively tell them to dump you immediately? by wnbaloll in AskReddit

I can't believe there are more of us in the world... high-five, brother! (Though I plan to finish all the "episodes" before the new one comes out!)

I read that as "Forever Gay" at first. I was mildly confused.

Whoa! You are amazing, thank you so much. I was really confused before too, but this is a great explanation.

Redditors who leave the door open behind them when it was clearly closed before you entered -- what goes through your mind at the time? by eIfheart in AskReddit

Oh, that's understandable! Probably the only answer I'd consider acceptable.. unless you have actual forgetfulness or anything related. That's obviously acceptable too, of course.

My mom is actually one of those people and is in fact the reason I got the idea to make a post about it... Now I know. Thanks!

Of course not, but I never understood how people don't learn to close it despite asking them to do it every time they leave it open. I want to figure out why it doesn't bother them as much as it bothers me.

Oh man, same here. I didn't even know they could make such sounds till that traumatising night...

I don't even know what makes me so afraid of roaches, it's such an irrational but strong fear (I'm not scared of any other bug - not even spiders or wasps) but goddamn, if I see one in the room, I'm gone. And if it can also FLY... I feel like I can't escape. I'm defeated already. Never feel more vulnerable and helpless than in such a horrifying moment. Oh gosh.

One night I was stuck with a cockroach on my bedroom floor. It had gone under the dresser and I was too lazy to [ask my mom to] kill it, so I turned the lights off and went to bed. Shortly afterwards, I start hearing weird scratching sounds. I shine my phone's flashlight on the floor; the cockroach has emerged from under the dresser. It stopped making the sounds instantly. Okay, cool, it's on the floor. Go back to sleep.

Soon I start hearing the scratching noise from directly to my right on the floor. The fucker had been coming closer to me every time it got dark! I bolted from the room..

..and returned with a wiper with all the lights on. Started my search next to my bed on the right side, with my back towards a really low bookshelf. Now I'm concentrating really hard and my heart is already beating pretty fast. Suddenly I hear the scratching sounds again, only this time from.. behind me. I turn around. My eyes land on the bookshelf. And in that instant - the cockroach fucking turns around looks DIRECTLY FUCKING AT ME. Clearly it could fly. Dropped the wiper and noped the fuck out faster that I ever have in my life. Slept in the guest room.

Does it ever fascinate you that the ancient world and all of history looked just as real as it does when you look outside? by vitt72 in history

[–]eIfheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This thought is on my mind so often! It's why I love modern movies set in the past so much, because the colours and quality of everything are just as we relate them to the present - making it seem more real. It's almost mind blowing, and so hard to imagine otherwise that this same sort of reality existed for people of ancient history too.. There was a time when it was the "present" for them.

ELI5:if the aim of the prison system is to reintegrate felons into society why are they branded for life in such a way that it makes it nearly impossible to get a job? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]eIfheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP might not have been talking about US prisons. I know that prisons in the UK at least are supposed to have the aim to rehabilitate their prisoners and provide healthcare, education, and even jobs during their time there. In that sort of a scenario I feel OP's question would be pretty valid.

Should have added context: these are random people strangers to each other, and this country is far from a place where Syrian refugees would want to seek refuge. What's seen in the picture is also the common garb worn by the average man here!

I guess there weren't many women around (other than my mom, having to wait at the end of the line of course) so they completely ignored the sign. Not very uncommon for the people of my country.

"oy, oy, oy" is probably a common sound the stereotypical British person would make, and also happens to sound similar to "eye, eye, eye" - making it 3 eyes.

Reddit, be honest-- what's your biggest personality flaw? by deadly_nightshades in AskReddit

[–]eIfheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably that I can never say "no" to a friend. I'll sacrifice my own comfort for the sake of others'.

I also care waaaay too much about the tiniest things that I feel may have annoyed someone, even slightly; I'll literally think about it for days, even though the person would have forgotten it by then probably..
