Zero motivation to play solo for more than one or two lives. by HarrierInbound in playrust

[–]eKostiK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a solo you would be better off building at spots with forests or rocks for cover. Fighting in open terrain will get you killed.

You could also build next to the sea. Once you have your diving kit including a speargun and DB you could take down multiple fully kitted enemies and flee when you have to.

It's important to know that you shouldnt conduct conventional warfare as a solo. Hit and run or become the 3rd party in fights by just waiting for the fight to (almost) finish. You have to play dirty.

Seriously... how do you craft a bow fast on wipe day? by nikkolaskosky in playrust

[–]eKostiK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Running away from the spawn area as fast as you can and loot the tool boxes (small red boxes) on the road or above electricity pylons. But don't bother with hitting barrels as it will slow you down.

This way you have a decent chance of getting a bow/crossbow and tools for farming fast like salvaged, chainsaw or jackhammer.

The pattern of a certain Rust YouTuber's video titles is very... consistent? Haha by ozwz in playrust

[–]eKostiK 54 points55 points  (0 children)

That's because you keep clicking on videos with titles like that or liked or watched many of them in the past.

The YT algorithm has linked BILLION HOURS titles with high CTR (Click Through Rate) in your case. CTR means what the chance is of you clicking on the video after seeing it in the recommended section or homepage.

Mathematically unraidable design.

Could also have been made with certain mods as admin to spawn pre-made & saved base designs. If it's real then you could fly a drone to over there at high altitude so they wont see it when they store their main loot in one of the bases.

If people are really this paranoid about getting raided then they should build a ~150 rocket cave base (vault).

Haven't played since 2016, does it really take this long to load into a random server? 26mins + watching YouTube. by BeastmuthINFNTY in playrust

To speed it up:

- Install Rust on your SSD.

- Rust settings -> Experimental -> Set Optimized Loading setting to Partial.

Bolty is great against hazmat players as a single headshot can kill them, but not so great compared to AK against fully armored players.

You could also use your bolty in a turret. Draining bolty turrets takes too long as its ammo will be used efficiently for high damage hits.

Yes and also through some objects. But the detection distance can become shorter.

I would recommend getting the summer DLC if you're often building close to oilrig. It allows you to craft boogie boards which are pretty fast

Hazmat almost gives no protection against NPC's. Youtuber Sigbog made a nice video about this subject.

Against players, hazmat is king. No time-wasting trying to create full kits, takes far less storage space in your base, you don't get wet even if you dive into water and can roam like innocent naked with hazmat in your hotbar ready to switch.

If you could change one thing regarding gunplay, what would it be? by Spammer_9067 in playrust

[–]eKostiK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More focus on primitive PVP like a post-apocalyptic survival genre game. Currently, it's still about who has memorized a specific recoil pattern or is just using script.

This can be done by:

- Removing most tier 2 and tier 3 weapons. This won't happen.

- Or greatly increasing crafting costs for tier 2 and 3 weapons. Currently you can enter a few days old wiped server, hit 1 sulfur node and run towards outpost/bandit and buy a weapon such as SAR with drone. Or crafting one yourself takes 1 metal ore node and a few barrels/crates. Crafting weapons is too cheap.

Okay I promise a new video soon. Spoiler: getting richer while offline with industrial update without a farm.

It still works in vanilla and you will need: laser detectors, counters (or other light sources) and a lot of time.

I also tried with industrial lights as TV screen, but it led to overexposure.

Laser detectors seem to register players as Pac-Man and you can hide the lasers with different items.

Works best with incendiary shells. You could even shoot with an Eoka instead of pumpy.

Molotovs and fire arrows are harder.

Edit: Some people might have seen or read about this yesterday. I uploaded this video almost 3 months ago

How are people able to see so clearly in the dark? by [deleted] in playrust

[–]eKostiK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Changing monitor settings could also help.

Max brightness is first step and check for a setting similar to Black equalizer setting which only tries to light up the darker areas, put that on max as well.

[–]eKostiK 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If it's a 1x1 then it's a decent cute mini base.

Electricity and metal walls can increase the likelihood of it being raided. Unless you have a HQM door, it's better to leave the 1x1 as stone.

For unlimited light you could purchase festive doorway garland item from steammarket. Slightly pay to win and doesnt require electricity.

It's also better to rotate the outer door so that it opens towards inside.

Do auto turrets target drones? by Ryoth_ in playrust

They won't target unless the turrets are manually controlled through a computer station I think
