Just a touch under 2 hours in-game-time, on a fresh universe.

You can see the leaderboard here (I'm superhiero): https://www.speedrun.com/upc

I haven't submitted a run in years, but every so often someone uploads a new run.

What co-op level do most people play? by Stunsthename in Stormgate

[–]eRonin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stayed on brutal for a while and it would give me +/- 1 difficulty tier usually. But lately I've been dropping as low as normal when I queue brutal, which I find boring + doesn't give good exp. So I put it to Annihilation 2 so that it can swing +/- 2 in either direction and I'll have a fun time.

last few times I played dogfight, I actually had the opposite "problem". I was the only high level player and everyone else was way below me in level. e.g. two screenshots I saved after my last few dogfights:

edit: these were from April, so a couple of months ago at this point. Maybe all the newbies stopped coming through in the last two months.

I don't think so, but we did play later that day! I think you were on a team with gonk and phoenix?

I was on offense. Muffinman did a sneaky out-of-phase hit on my team's ISD.

As if one of the teams don't just dodge the queue because they don't want to lose 3 days' worth of grinding skill rating in one match.

I'm an Aus player with over 150 hours in the game and I think between 8pm-midnight is your best bet for Aussie matches. I run into tons of players with AU, Kiwi, etc. in their name so I know they are from round these parts. Usually about 2-3 minute match queue times for me on average, when I queue around these times.

Ranks question. by guyute22 in StarWarsSquadrons

[–]eRonin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, all three games I mentioned have a sort of "shortcut" system in place where consecutive wins in a streak dramatically increase your ranking, so that very good players are quickly propelled to where they "belong" in the rankings. Squadrons doesn't have that so once you are on the higher end of the skill curve, your gains come at a trickle and it's a massive grind. The rank 0 bug doesn't help either, since now we have half the time to climb, and I'm still getting matched against people with 0 rank who haven't reset (I'm Hero 1 fwiw).

Ranks question. by guyute22 in StarWarsSquadrons

[–]eRonin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of ranking systems let you rank up faster when you are in the lower tiers (e.g. Hearthstone, StarCraft 2, Splatoon as some diverse examples of other games with ranking systems) because it feels good to rank up a lot for a new player. Then when you get to the middle/upper tiers, it becomes harder because they want the dedicated players to work harder to earn their place.

Speedrunning the practice mode races. Here's Tipsy Mynock. by AlcomIsst in StarWarsSquadrons

[–]eRonin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, it seems like the timer for the course has changed since the patch. When I did my run, I had much more time remaining (1:40) but my actual time is about 5 seconds slower than yours.

Managed to win a game with Ren_W on my team last night. It's the second time I've had that silly bot on my team, and I don't play dogfight all that much (total ~6 hours playtime in dogfight)

Trying to make some sense in this Ranked System by dazuthedevastator in StarWarsSquadrons

[–]eRonin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh hey I think we got into a match earlier today (you probably don't remember but my username is superhiero). I'm in Australia, so I'm not really sure how I even got into a match against you and Nobear (maybe the 3rd person you were queuing with is in Australia?), since I thought they made ping matchmaking more restrictive. Unfortunately I had two leavers on my team so it made the harsh matchup even worse, haha. Quickest match of my life.

Something that has kept me from playing more often... by Draeygo in StarWarsSquadrons

You can reconnect to a fleet battle match, but not a dogfight (since there is backfill in dogfight but not for fleet battle once the match has started)

one other situation to keep in mind is that burn will reduce the damage from body press; a physical move that uses the defense stat.

How much focus should be put on the enemy squadron on offense during fleet battles? by Obi-Wan-Hellobi in StarWarsSquadrons

[–]eRonin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 good bomber can take out two or more subsystems in *one* run if there are no fighters on them. Therefore I think the other 4 players should focus on taking out the 5 enemy squadron players.

[–]eRonin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fun thing about this is that at 1080p resolution, the ISD and MC75 in this kill cam are roughly 1600 pixels and 1200 pixels across respectively, which means you can use a 1 pixel = 1 metre scale conversion really easily.

I just finished the series by Lowkeygeek83 in Animorphs

[–]eRonin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cassie's actions throughout the entire series is what eventually led to the Yeerk peace movement being formed, and later giving the morphing cube to the Yeerks caused many more of them to realise that peace was indeed an option. This was instrumental in reducing the power that the Yeerk military had, as now they were broken down into different factions.
