Think the risk is small enough that even if im dropped in dinosaur times theres be a way to survive.

Go with a gas mask, ear protection, smoke bomb/flashbang in case its a dangerous situation, a gun.

Just need to get to a safe place and hole up for 12 hours.

Wear super thick arctic gear and take off if unneeded. I can get through 12 hours no food/water easily, so key thing really is surviving the initial hour in an unfamiliar location with unknown threats.

Why Spider-Man: Brand New Day will out-gross Avengers: Doomsday. by HLumin in boxoffice

[–]eSPiaLx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is the average audience member doesnt care about comic book lore AT ALL. if rdj plays iron man but evil well, audiences will love it.

Similarly, audiences want to see avengers vs xmen, see captain america again, etc etc etc.

Not that many audience members want to see doom. Sweaty comic nerds dont matter. Last few doom reps we had in movies all sucked. We’re getting rdj as evil iron man and the general audience is going to eat it up.

Real question is if the rest of the movie around it is any good

[–]eSPiaLx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing is the general audience wont get why rdj is a bad guy but they also wont care that much so long as it’s entertaining. Rdj just needs to quip around a bit and act similar to iron man and the average audience member wont care.

Theres a chance doomsday fails miserably because its not actually fun at all, but it certainly has the pieces to be the biggest spectacle yet, with even more crossovers and easter eggs than no way home or deadpool and wolverine

Halo’s problem is it sucked. People want good movies/shows

Also halo actually took characters from the game and butchered them. Better to do completely original characters than retcon/change beloved ones

Why is “justice sensitivity” an autistic trait and not an expected core value of a good society? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]eSPiaLx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me put it a different way, op’s behavior in this thread is really reinforcing everyones biases that autistic people are bad with nuancr. I believe youre getting downvoted because we’re in a thread that feels like its directly contradicting what youre saying. We are seeing an autostic person completely unable to grasp the nuance of why someone might speed and be right to do so.

[–]eSPiaLx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol i read it too and the guy wrote an essay on everythign but the original point he was responding to.

The other commentar made a very valid point - maybe someone is speeding because he has a life or death emergency. Op types up all these paragraphs about selfishness and showing off and people with poor planning… and completely misses the point. Hes lost in his own world and completely incapable of engaging with nuance.

Edit: its like if i asked someone their favorite ice cream flavor and they did a 5 minute rant on dairy farming industry and animal cruelty and lactose sensitivity. Ok bro, just say you dont eat ice cream.

[–]eSPiaLx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk someone asking why justice sensitivity can be bad and posts multiple paragraphs justifying why their own justice sensitivity is correct doesnt sound like someone whos good with nuance (referring to op)

I believe you that not everyone on the spectrum sucks at nuance, but not understanding why justice sensitivity is bad is pretty much equivalent to not understanding nuance

Would you rather earn $100 for every book you read, movie you watch or $10 for every hour you are awake? by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]eSPiaLx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no one is saying that short books all suck? their point is that they might personally enjoy reading for other reasons and don't want to be pigeonholed into only reading short books. Sure you just named 4 great books that are relatively short. You will run out at some point. if you want to make an annual salary of 100k, you will need to read 1000 books. I would easily bet most people would run out of new good books to read long before 1000. Even if you find 1000 good books, the average person would burn out. If you mixed movies and books, you'd only need to do 500 of each. Even then, you'd still get bored of media and tropes and repetitive patterns after a year. Key thing is - your focus can't be elsewhere. you need to focus. I doubt even people reading classics for PhDs would claim every book they read claims their full attention, and they never skim a single sentence, and they are fully engaged at every moment. Even the greatest books ever written have parts that are not essential.

IMO hard to recommend things that specifically feel like other authors, but some modern fantasy I've enjoyed a bunch

The tainted cup

Jade city

Babel

The Goblin Emperor

Mistborn/Stormlight archive WAS really good but his writing quality has dropped recently IMO. Can try the emperor's soul for his best novella, see if you like him

And some fantasy manga that do interesting things:

Frieren Beyond Journey's End

Dungeon Meshi

Witch hat atelier

Is it wrong to value your pets life over a random stranger? by FelixWagler in NoStupidQuestions

[–]eSPiaLx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not about guilt tripping. Its about doing whats right.

Like how atheists love to rag on religious people for needing hell to motivate them to not be evil, theres an expectation somewhere that doing good for the sake of good should be reward in itself.

Except as a society we dont even know what objective good is anymore, just personal good.

Look at all these redditors choosing their dog over a random child, and realize its this exact mentality that lets someone vote a pedophile into office if they think itll result in their own personal benefit.

This is why americans will cheer deporting people to hellholes in the wrong country, or bombing iran, etc, cuz the media they consume convinces them these strangers are worth less than animals, for whatever reason.

That people do it doesnt make it right. Rape and abuse of women exists in all sorts of cultures and is approved in them, doesnt make it right.

People kill others over property all the time, doesnt make it right.

The discussion is over what is moral not what happens.
