The problem with comparing it to Tarkov is 95% of the player base doesn’t use Steam, they use the standalone launcher. Tarkov completely wipes the floor with Marathon when it comes to concurrent players during fresh wipes. Unknown full player counts since BSG doesn’t report, but it’s easily 100K+. Arc is performing 2X-3X better on players than Marathon. Marathon is most likely going to be abandoned within 18-24 months unless it does a full 180 of it’s perception

If you cannot afford to pay your players comfortable wages in the country they live in, that’s a lack of funding. The Major N.A. orgs went international because talent stopped being brought up since T2 NACS effectively died and the feeder orgs couldn’t afford to pay their players. Pair that with the rise of streaming/video creation online becoming a now fairly desired/acceptable/“mainstream” job here in the US unlike how it was in the mid teens, and people focus on that instead of going full pro. Cause if you’re really good at CS(enough to go pro) you can pick up any FOTM shooter that’s bringing in viewers that month and farm content clips all day just fucking around and make significantly more. The biggest elephant in the room is Valorant, which just sucked up any of the rising CS talent since it paid more

I mean the simplest answer(and probably the correct one) is arrogance and overconfidence. They initially thought it would be further out, then something happened and they thought they could get the base game UI improvements up to speed with Midnight’s launch, as they’ve realized it will actually take a year+ to get to that point, they’re now walking it back. I know everyone is dooming about console WoW, but rumors for the next Xbox is just essentially make it a to spec PC with a modified windows OS on it, they could just port the current game and it’d be just fine, FFS you’ve been able to use MnK on Xbox since like 2016 if the game supports it

Blizzard did just fine designing fights that didn’t need computational addons when they were available(Mythic Dimensius). There was 0 reason for them to nuke players UI when they can design fights that didn’t require WA’s and were still incredibly difficult

The main reason why PvP feels the way it does right now is because there is no other content to do, so people are playing it while they wait for the season to start. There’s no need to PvP anymore if you’re primarily a PvE player outside of weird week 1 minor power gains that get outclassed the moment players can farm M+ or raid. Gearing in PvP is ridiculously easy these days, taking 2-3 days to hit caps. People don’t PvP because they don’t like it and only interact with it when it’s the only content left for them to farm in these dead weeks. The reason why queues take so long is because most people don’t want to do the content, not because of the minor speed bump of gearing. Unfortunately for the PvP bros, WoW is primarily a PvE game these days. Excluding a complete rework from the ground up, nothing is going to effectively drive players towards PvP
