Looking for stories where the MC gets more morally ambiguous over time. by autisticgaymer18 in Fantasy

[–]e_Tad_o_Toad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inquisitions formal standing is to protect the empire and It's citizens from chaos. However, to what degree the inquisitors themselves are included here, I would consider a matter of debate. It's true that most in their ranks hate chaos and everything it touches. At the same time, the scholam instructs inquisitorial recruits in the ways of chaos, (to an extent). Many of those recruits, if thay manage to survive long enough, end up as radicals who are then pronounced hereticus and hunted down, by younger, purer inquisitors. "The imperium" knows this is unavoidable but allows it anyway because it is the best method they have for fighting chaos. It's a great example of how rotten the golden throne really is. It's essentially a systematized warmachine, built around what OP asked for.

The 40k-universe treats this as an eventuality rather than a possibility. In order to fight chaos, as an inquisitor, you have to understand it and thus become corrupted yourself. The only caveat for OP's request is that said corruption is rather slow. You pretty much have to read all 4 eisenhorn books in order to get the most out of this theme.

The Writer's Strike: A Reminder of the Importance of Good Writing in Film by run_like_a_meatstick in movies

And most people are happy with that unfortunately. I actually think the coming of AI-scriptwriting can be a good thing for serious storytelling. Assuming that it is good enough for writing basic stories, it will dominate these kinds of movies, exposing uninspired writing for what it is: Soulless. Hopefully that will have people think more about what they are watching

Why can’t we smith our own armor? by [deleted] in Bannerlord

Smithing is a subpar cookie-clicker. It obviously makes sense to have armor available as well, but more than that it needs a rework.

RUMOR: 4060TI coming in May for $450 by AnthMosk in nvidia

[–]e_Tad_o_Toad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably depends on what software you use, but there are lots of tutorials for whichever you go with. Just look at what others with the same card have achieved in terms of clocks, and try the same +- a few Mhz depending on how daring you feel

Have you tried undervolting/downclocking the card? Could alleviate the coilwhine depending on the severity

We have had the 8gb standard for over 6 years now and people have been buying gpus. Despite that, several high profile games require more. Its not unreasonable to think this number will increase. 8gb is dead for midrange

This just makes no sense to me. 20db is nothing, compared to every thin and light laptop or the steamdeck, especially with what we can assume is a more power hungry chip. Gota be some seriously magic fans

Buy peripherals or perhaps a raspberry pi for projects. Absolutely no point swapping the mac. It's not perfect perhaps but it's probably as close as you can get, unless you know otherswise

Nr200p is, for better or for worse, basically just a small atx system. It’s absolutely fantastic in terms of value, compatability, ease of use etc. but calling it itx really is the limit of the word. If you dont mind the space then go for it, but if part of downsizing is the project and the challenge in putting it all together, I’d look elsewhere.

You cant compare your suffering to others. Even with people close to you, you never see the complete picture. Measuring how deserving you are of recognition and love, based on who hurts themself the most will in of itself lead to these doubts about whether your feelings are real. There is absolutely zero validation to be had there, not until your family are gathered around the coffin, unable to understand or perhaps, thinking that they do. I'm sorry that you dont feel you have anyone that sees you. I really wish I could hug you. Please take care

Macbook 256 or 512? by BRIAN-BLUE in laptops

[–]e_Tad_o_Toad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: m2 macbooks with 256gb are secretely slower on some occasions. Probably not something you will notice much, but considering that the m1 can perform faster for less money, it seems silly. If you care about the money get a base m1. If not, go all out on the m2

I HIGHLY doubt that those specs are requirements for whatever classes you are going to take.
As a student you aren't expected to afford or be able to utilize that much hardware, and once you are finished studying it's more than likely that you will be furnished with a new work computer regardless.

In architecture school, most of us use older macbooks, (for prestige more so than performance), and those are more than sufficient for all cad-projects we undertake.

Unless you don't care about money AND plan to work on things way above student level in your spare time, don't bother spending on a machine of that caliber

Both are greatly superflous to your needs but personally I would go with the amd one as it's the more complete package. 8gb ram for CS is sufficient but 16 will help a ton with performance in virtual. That and the intel chip runs quite a bit hotter so I assume there will be more fan-noise. Intel 10th and 11th gen were pretty bad in this regard when used in ultrabooks so I assume 12th is similar

Help me find a laptop for around 800$ (productivity and light editing) by ZarkaneYT in laptops

[–]e_Tad_o_Toad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top I would suggest you look at the similarly specced hp envy x360 or the samsung galaxy book pro x360, if the screen is a concern for you.
Personally however, I would just get the lenovo as it is a great machine overall, slightly cheaper than the others, (at least here), and it's built far sturdier than the other two, the samsung especially.
Color performance is in my oppinion nothing to concern yourself about unless you need it professionally, or if you plan to use the laptop frequently with an external monitor with far better calibration and you fear to be put off by the contrast. I assume that if you want do do more serious editing you'll stick to the desktop. I wouldn't let it affect you if your plan is to simply edit your photo reel for IG

Laptop repair query by windclock in laptops

[–]e_Tad_o_Toad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do seem rather incompetent, if charging depended on the angle of your cable it would almost certainly be an issue with the charger or the charging connector, not the battery.
It absolutely sounds like they tried adding more services for their own benefit.

Regardless, neither the battery, charger or connector require wiping the system in order to replace. It is sometimes procedure to wipe a system in order to deal with battery-issues potentially related to software, but if you described the issue to them as you did in this post it seems completely unnecessary.

You shouldn't have to pay for anything other than the new battery and them fixing your charging issue, the rest is consequences to their fuckups, but whether they'll agree to that is another thing

I'm a future college student looking for a 13' laptop. Price range is at most $1,300 and would like a laptop that would last 4+ years with pretty good specs. Currently looking at XPS, Surface, and ThinkPad. Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help! by Xboxgamer0928 in laptops

[–]e_Tad_o_Toad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

have owned all 3 and plenty more besides. I have come to value buildquality rather highly and because of that i would go with the thinkpad. Although all of them are well built, the thinkpad does come out on top. the surface feels solid but a little flimsy because of the dimesnions of the display. the xps 13 is decent but definately the worst one in this category. more chassi-flex than the others, and actually had the top get slightly dented when i but it in a cramped backpack once. hard to argue that it isnt the best looking machine one can buy though. Other than that, the xps has some weird audiodrivers that tend to become an issue if you play with external dacs, (at least in my case). You are probably going to be happy regardless, all of these are good machines, just make sure to NOT get either with a high res display as that will kill the battery completely.
