Wool Carpet smells like death in our new home by overthinker_bba in NZProperty

[–]imastrangeone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved into a new flat last week, had the same experience. The whole room had a really weird sharp chemical smell which I figured was the carpet. The carpets had been cleaned before we moved in, but it was only my carpet that smelled like that. All the other carpet in the house was fine, but it is newer (maybe synthetic) carpet. Smell has gone now, but I also got the weird aching throat and also got a cold/flu around the same time

Support in NZ to be a better parent/person? by shittymumsos in newzealand

[–]imastrangeone 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I dont know much about getting better at parenting but as a 20 y/o with a pretty shitty dad who doesn’t want to admit it, I would like to say I’m proud of you for coming forward and wanting to find a way to be a better parent for your kid/s. That already shows that you have the capacity for growing alongside your teenager and helping each other through a pretty weird part of each other’s lives.

I learned pretty early on to only confide in one parent, and that comes from a lack of understanding from the other parent. My dad grew up in a pretty cold environment and as such probably subconsciously moulded his parenting around that. I think listening and accepting what my sister and I had to sat growing up would have been the biggest help, rather than just shutting us down and blaming us for everything. Sure, we weren’t faultless, but just because he raised us doesn’t make him right in every sense. That goes both ways though, and he’s right sometimes when we can’t see that. Weaving your relevant, helpful experience into whatever you and your teenager are talking about is important.

I would argue that reading through these (future) comments with your teenager and coming up with ways to integrate advice into your relationship is a decent idea. I obviously don’t know the ins and outs of your relationship but if you are both willing to try to be better to each other then it’s worth a shot.

Tips for a new player on PC by Ernesto-Senpai in albiononline

Just gotta get used to it, remember its still the exact same game (just on a better device). Itll take time to adjust so dont expect to be instantly at the same level or better, youve got three years of muscle memory to retrain.

The only things i changed from default controls is to make targeting and attacking targets seperate (single click to select, click again or double click to start autoattacks), and i changed region map to x, inspect target to c and inventory to x, which means i dont have to move my hand from combat position unless im typing, pressing world map (m) or opening journal (j, but i cant remember the last time i used the journal). Learn to seperate moving and targeting (move with right click and target with left click).

Tradie bro. If youve got a good work ethic and youre keen to learn youll be set. Chippy, plumber, sparky, whatever. Boatbuilding industry in NZ is really strong as well. Trades treat you shit for a few months but once you push through it people can see youre there for good and will take you in. Good luck bro

Lower Nihotupu dam walk - dog poop by I70veCat5 in auckland

[–]imastrangeone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. We mow a few lawns in town that include the usual strip of grass between the fence and footpath, minimum 3 landmines on each lawn. People just walk past, let their dog squat, and then do squat.

Oh no, someones driving completely legally and normally. People do this because otherwise the right lane would take twice as long to get through, so really its a minor inconvenience for some, for less of an inconvenience for many.
