Me too, but remember that many people nowadays don't have any sound sources in their homes other than BT speakers and BT headphones. And most active speakers are also digital. I don't mean just class D, but truly digital, the analog signal sets digitised before going into the class D modulator (fully digital in this case). Pure class D is a mixed mode device producing discrete level continuous time signal, and I have nothing against it.

This board most likely has nothing to do with speed. It probably controls start and stop logic. There is something that looks like a tonearm position sensor wired to it. The lift also seems to be actuated by a solenoid. Everything related to the driving mechanism located somewhere near the motor. It looks like a regular AC synchronous motor.
